I just picked up a bass that had QP PJs and I'm an active kinda dude, so I wanna unload them. I figured I would try and find out what I could about them first. with the gain knob all the way down I am still getting sound.
No, not abnormal at all. It is a gain control and not a channel volume. It is normal to have plenty of master volume available with zero gain. Here's a link to a 'Rumble Talk' on Gain Structure. Fender Rumble TalkIs this abnormal for a gain knob?
Yes! Just plug in a mic cable from your Rumble's XLR out and into your recording console. You can do a search for @bdplaid's experience with his Rumble's XLR out in both the studio and live work. That should be just as loud as a Rumble 200 1x15 combo. Your set up is perfect, and allows you to EQ each combo individually and adjust the volume independently.
