Fender Rumble Club

Love this rig!

OK---did it. It was awesome. I lived out a long held dream--to play bass as the main instrument in a band. The venue wasn't large like I thought. It was medium sized but packed. No DI needed. In fact the soundman came up to the stage and said I was too loud for his FOH to please turn down. LOL. On the stage it sounded balanced but a few feet past the stage it dominated the house. WOW! Of course I turned it down as I wanted it to sound right! The soundman gave me the thumbs up after I turned down to 10 o'clock with the bass turned to about 1 or 2. The thing is a blowtorch.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but I lack the patience and search skills to find it, so here it is. Have any of you used guitars through your Rumble v.3s? How did it work for you. I know that many guitar players like(d) Fender Bassman amps. A friend of mine likes to play her guitars through a smaller Fender bass amp. I don't know which model.

Greetings. I have an outdoor gig tonight from 5-9. The temperature will go from about 55 to 45 towards 9pm.

I found plenty of posts about storing equipment in the cold. My concern is it OK for my brand new v3 500 combo to PLAY in this weather. I would assume I need to let it acclimate first.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Since it's not tubes, you'll be fine. After you set up, just turn it on with the master pulled down and let it idle until ready to play. Do the same between sets. Don't turn it off until you're done for the night.

Amp-wise; You will be fine.. I would be more concerned about my bass acclimating to the temperature than the amp.. Make sure you check your tuning, colder = things go sharp..

Awesome. I was hoping YOU would answer. Sounds like a plan. Much appreciated. I'm gigging less than a year now, so this is my first outdoor cold event with my own gear. Thanks again!

Awesome. I plan on cutting the tips off some gloves and we'll have a coffee pot and hand warmers available.
Puhleese.... try playing in 22 degrees. In the wind. In Florida. ( and uphill... with no shoes....). seriously, heat and humidity are much bigger killers than cold and dry for a night. here in FL, on some gigs that I know will be like a steam bath, I take my beater bass. But want to know what the biggest killer is? season changes. spring and fall reveal any weakness electronics have.

Well, this is KY, so playing without shoes is common :laugh:. I was gonna try the URB but I'll stick with my Dimension.

I like Kentucky, and used to go to the Bourbon Festival every year in Bardstown. If Fender would make left-handed Dimensions, they would sell well.
I love KY.... and bourbon. Been very happy with my Dimension, of course I had the frets removed and play tapewounds on it... So, there's that. Mine was a maple/ash and I just got lucky, absolutely beautiful body. First and only electric I've owned.

Ok, I preface this by saying I may be a bit ahead of myself and it may be a while before I buy (or can buy).
But my family crest has Paratus Semper on it.... So I like to do a bit of study before I buy.

Anyway met a bloke at a conference last weekend that plays guitar, turns out he is only about 1/2 hour from home. So he suggested we jam a bit and maybe try to get out to small venues when we are ready. He has a drum machine as well. I'm guessing my old R15 will be ok for the early days of practise but will likely prove to be too small if and when we progress.

My original plan was to get a V3 R40 for small acoustic shows and keep an eye open for a used V3 Rumble 200 or (been recommended to me - GK MB200) that someone wants to move on because they really want 500w... That doesnt seem to be happening much lol. With the Rumble 200, either combo or head, and in both brands of heads look for a Rumble 210 cab to go with it. Let me stress - this is a long term little piece by little piece strategy. I had been confused of the purpose of the 100.

But - I've now seen a secondhand but still boxed V3 Rumble 100 combo for sale, and my mind is ticking over. It's not that much more than the 40 brand new, and not that much less powerful than the 200 without a 2nd cab. It also has the XLR out (DI?). I have a DI box but I have no idea about it, :) I picked it up with a bunch of bits n pieces I was given by a bloke downsizing - I'll research that bit elsewhere.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the 100 may do all, or more, than I currently need and with the DI box and/or the XLR output on the combo I'm covered for venues that have their own PA. I am seriously considering jumping on this opportunity, or if I miss out on this one get a new 100 a little down the track when I need (rather than want) the new amp. Probably on the rent/buy scheme.

Have I got anything in my thought process completely wrong? I think the 100 may actually be exactly what I want.
