Fender Rumble Club

I am doing a kitchen remodel for my wife's Christmas present, so my budget is blown, this sucks because I REALLY want a Rumble 40 or Rumble 100 for a lower volume practice, smaller gigging amp...
Yeah me too. I am going with the 40 because it has the front end of the 500 which is my gigging amp. My 25 is great for bedroom practice, but I can't dial the tones like the 500 and I would like one I can use not only for personal practice, but for smaller gigs. I actually used my 25 for an acoustic gig and it did well, but I'd feel more comfortable with the 40.
I have promised my wife a nice camera for Christmas and we are putting wood floors in the living room, so this may be a bigger stretch than I can do. That's the only reason I have placed the order yet. I have to go crunch some numbers tonight.

I chose the 40 for the same reason (same front end as 500), use it daily, and feel that it's an ideal practice amp. Even that one can get surprisingly loud.

Cheers,
Yeah, wish I'd bought the 40 when I bought my 25. At the time, my old early 15 blew the speaker and I needed a replacement within budget. Had I known as much then as I do now about the Rumble line, I would have picked the 40 and figured out how to pay for it.
But if I get the 40, what do I do with the 25? It is like only a few months old.

Seeing as the 40 is discounted $40 at Musician's Friend, lop, say, $30 off the Rumble 25 new price and list it on CraigsList as "like new, mint". You'll likely get a quick sale (some dad doing a little Christmas shopping) and still get the 40 for $10 less than you would have a week ago.

Thanks for the tip. I'll consider it. I'm not big on people coming to my house on a CL ad, but a meet on neutral ground might work. I just have to be out the money for a little time.
Or maybe, I'll find a school or a kid that wants to play and give it to them. If I found a kid, I would also give him the old Squier P beater gathering dust in the garage.

They're going to want to hear it, so wherever you meet, you at least need electricity and that ol' Squier bass.

I have them come to my train-wreck of a garage. They shake their head and say, "I thought MY garage was a mess..."

Pro Tip: demo used amps with a P-bass, not a Jazz; explaining any hum coming from the J-bass pick-ups just sounds too much like an excuse. And letting them see only a single Squier and not your pristine vintage instruments lets them know that you are a poor musician who needs the money and don't have anything worth stealing.

If you can arrange to be interrupted by a phone call, you can say, "Yes. Yes. I know it's late. I'll have the rent to you in <glance at your potential amp buyer> 20 minutes."

Good thoughts, thanks.
I will match you on garages. I haven't been able to find my lawnmower for 3 years.

I love it!

Understood. I haven't tried it myself. I took a chance on a rumble. My other amp is an old trace Elliot 1x12 combo from the early 90's at 120 watts. And it's still a great amp, but the new rumble sound is ridiculous. Plus weighs about half of my old trace Elliot. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of these new rumbles. Very nice. And the EQ on it is very versatile. Pair it with and active bass and you're golden.
.
I have the 200 combo and I really want the cab to make it the full 200 watts. I was looking at the 1x12 today ag the ain, but I haven't actually heard of anyone trying it with the 200. Fender recommends it, but I'd rather get some positive feedback on the combination before I spend my money.
To my ears, fender is right on about the 112 ext cab.I a/b the 115 vs 112.running everything flat, I thought the 115 was a little too boomy but alittle EQ tweeking no proplem. The 112 was more focus with punch, less unwanted harmonics-I'm playing a mim fender jazz w/chromes( FLATS),123 DP PUPS.Also noticeable volume output when you get the full 200 watts.Same price for either cab down here. Will be purchasing the 115 next to leave at practice and next rig.

Hi everyone!

I've had a rumble for roughly 7 mos now, don't know why I never joined.

I have a problem with my amp and I hope someone could help me out. I made a thread and was told to come here as we'll

Thanks!

"Lately I've notice a drop in volume when practicing with headphones. I can't get loud enough. I immediately thought my headphones were jacked up. So I played some loud music (w/ some bass) straight from an iPod and it seemed fine. So I plugged my bass (Stingray) into the amp to test it out that way.

Before, It seemed that I only needed the master at noon on the amp and the bass' volume at about 2 or 3/10. Now, I have to have it at 7 'o clock. (For decent bedroom practice)

So I turned the amps volume to about 3 'o clock. And had the basses volume at 40% and sparks came flying out from around the master volume knob on the amp and the lights on the amp (drive and the light that tells you it's on) started blinking. And it was making a clicking sound. I immediately turned it off and unplugged everything (bass, power cord)
I wasn't bombastically slapping or anything.

Just to be safe I tested my bass with another set up to make sure nothing happened to it. The bass was fine.

The amp is a Fender Rumble 200 going through a Gallien Krueger CX210 cab.

I don't know what's wrong. I bought it new from Sweetwater in April. Nothing like this has ever happened with it."

Does anyone know what could cause this to happen?

Fender Specialist: 1-844-202-0924 and get a return authorization plus info on your nearest authorized service center. You'll have to send it in for repair or replacement.

This is the first failure of this kind that I have heard of.

Maybe I'm different than most, but that tells me the guy's in need of quick cash and would be willing to deal (take a lower price for the merchandise).

the 4x10 is only $50 more than the 2x10. Is there any sound-based reason why someone wouldn't just go with the 4x10 instead?
There is! If you have the Rumble 500 combo, the Rumble 210 cabinet is an exact match, and you get the added sonic benefit of a vertically stacked diagonal array of matched 10's. You get the same thing with a pair of Rumble 210's + 500 head. All speakers get the same amount of watts.

There are several Rumble Club members that have the Rumble 500 combo stacked on top of a Rumble 410 cabinet with excellent results. The most notable being so freaking loud you can't stand it indoors.

Gotcha, thanks! So the benefit of the vertically stacked diagonal array of matched 10s is better than just having six 10s from the 2x10 and a 4x10?
