hi, i'm new here. got a rumble 100 v3 for a year now and found out that it is just a little too weak for little "louder" jams or rehearsals. just mud and not enough bottom end. so now i got myself a used rumble 500 combo and compared them side by side at home.
then i found out that my open E string sounds way bigger and warmer with my 100 than with the 500. tried in different rooms and different positions (edge of the room, tilted back...) so that should not be the problem. Open A string and everything above got about the same beef as the 100
Can it be that this is because of the dampened inner back of the 500? Or is it the 10s not being able to really handle a low E? How about the low B? Did anyone of you have similar problems? I know that this effect might disappear at louder volumes in rehearsal or stage situation. But i love a deep tone and usually even dial out some of the low mids to emphasize those the sub bass a little. Cranking the bass Up is no option here, because it operates at 80hz, which also emphasizes the A and even the D.
Maybe i'm better off with two linked 100s? Don't know...
