Fender Rumble Club

I would just clean out the pots with DeOxIt D5 Spray.

I don't think it's the pots, it happens without manipulating the pots, and it can happen with the volume and gain all the way off. Sure I get a bit of scratch when I turn up the volume at first, but this is different. It happens completely independent of any adjustment I make. It's always the same volume level, and for the time being it stops after a few seconds. When I dropped it off, it was doing it off-and-on throughout usage.

I didn't read the history.....but I get odd noises through my amp at home, that i don't hear at gigs....the way i understand it is that ceiling fans, dimmer switches, etc can introduce noise. Is it possible you have "dirty" power?

That is possible, and it's one of the things that me and a fellow musician at work have been thinking about as possible causes. It happens at home and at the rehearsal studio, I don't recall it happening at a gig. As it stands now, I'm ok with it as it is, as long as it doesn't turn into a serious problem.

How many of us have a slight crackle just after turning it on and only when turning the master volume at low volumes?

Brand new 500 combo does this.
I am not worried about and I'm not convinced it's a de-oxit candidate either.

In that regard, when turning up the volume a touch, this is true. Mine has done that from day one. The issue I have is different, unfortunately. I'm resigned to it, though. I can always take it back to the tech if it gets really bad that it deters from proper operation.

Cool. It sounded different. I have had two that did this but not a 100c. Weird.

I'm not sure about this, but I believe the Tascam CD bass trainer does not have a volume control for line out (it does have volume controls for bass in and headphone out). So, when you use the bass trainer line out to the auxiliary in on the Rumble, it's at full volume and something could get damaged (including your ear drums).

Bob
Thanks for the tip.
If you can find the time to dig, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!
Bob is correct. Line out of the Tascam is too hot.

Had my gain and master on 0 and it was too loud.

I just spent a few minutes with my 500 head and don't hear it. Not at power up, low volume, or higher.

Those who notice it, could it be batch specific ? Perhaps compare serial #'s.

Thanks for checking.

On a non-Rumble note, why have a line out if the signal is too hot to use?

I'm going to assume their thought pattern here was, it would go to a mixer or recording input that would have a gain/volume control of some sort and an internal volume control would not be needed and could save some money in manufacturing to not have one included.

Is there a headphone jack on the Tascam? Does it have a volume control? Could it be used to connect to the Rumble?

NP

A line out is just that... a line out signal to feed a device with a line in input. It's not too hot to use per its intended use.

To use the Rumble aux input, the device you want to connect must have a dedicated aux out.

Line and auxiliary circuits are simply different beasts.

Yes, the level of the headphone output on the CD-BT2 can be adjusted.

The Rumble aux input specs read 10k ohm. The Tascam phones out spec reads 15 mW + 15 mW (into 32 ohm)

I don't know enough to determine if it will work. So at this point I think I'll go with the Tascam recomendation that the aux out be connected to " Audio systems, speakers with built in amplifiers, or similar equipment" only.

Got the 112 cab yesterday, and it looks amazing.

Quick plug in with the 500 head proved it to have a lovely tone, definitely darker than the 2x10, which is what I wanted. Hard to tell much in the house, though!

Got a gig tonight, so I'll be for the first time trying my new rig - my tried 'n' tested 115 cab, with the new 112 and 500 head.

Will take a photo and post thoughts afterwards!:hyper:

I got my 112 on Tues night. Met Honeyiscool at a Costco parking lot and powered with a 150w/550w pk inverter.

Forgot to take a picture of the stack (rumble 200c) while under the bright lights, doh!

It is a sexy looking stack, and I like the height of the controls, in fact I think the 210 might make them a little too high for a top back style, for my height 5'10 at least, this seemed perfect since you basically have to lean over the amp to look down on them.

I liked the sound of the 112. The only isolated test I got to do was with a little EH 44 magnum that HIC brought, and it was a cool sound, the cab was efficient enough to give a nice full punchy sound with just 40 watts, though it (the 44) didn't have enough headroom to not break up on the low e. I brought my 2000 USA p bass.

But when plugged into the rumble, it coupled really well with the 15. It was a fat tight sound overall with nice girth to it. I couldn't really crank it up since my inverter would cut out, but I could tell I would be satisfied for most situations with the rig.

And both boxes fit in the back of my versa hatch back, and I can even have the smaller right back seat up if I slide the 112 to the rear, or with the seat folded I have room to put small things. And this is with them lying flat down on their grille's, so I could put more on top if needed.

Now if only I could find a band to play with. Craigslist has a lot of crap to weed through, and it is dominated by young bands, 18-28 only, some 25-35, and most of the older guys are doing stuff I don't want to do... And as soon as I hear that sloppy out of tune guitar bending, bad tone and flat singer in the samples of these "pro" bands, I don't even reply...

But I'm ready with a sexy rig if something does come up.

I agree about hard to tell much of anything inside the house or anywhere inside '' for me'' I want to do my own shootout between the r500head w/(1-210cab) vs r200c w/ 210 ext. It will have to happen outside. Although there's lots of gigs coming up outside I want to know now who's the best to my ears.

I have a feeling you will be more impressed with the 200c/210 than just more watts going to the 210. 350w going into 210 is probably not really going to do more than 200w also pushing the 15. Though it might be close, I think most would agree the more speakers is going to make more difference than more watts, though you might have to run towards the top of your headroom.

Now a 500c on a 210 might be a different story, but as you know, the 200 is quite surprising

That's the way!

Tonight's venue has always got good acoustics, so I'm looking forward to cranking it up for a good test.

Plan for rehearsal on Monday is to take the 112 only. Should be loud enough for that hopefully!
