Awesome!! Thank you :)
My new Fender Rumble 500 v3 :-)

Anybody using the aux in on their Rumble? I may be finally stepping up and trading a barely used cab for a 200, but I need a good aux in to plug in the Tascam CD bass trainer so I can play along with songs I want to learn. Any feedback appreciated!

Yes. I use it for 2 different reasons. a) Our band has some deep bass pads that I play through the amp during shows from my laptop. b) I use the aux in combined with headphones for practicing new songs that I previously recorded--w/o the bass that I wrote--for late at night. The amp wakes up the neighborhood--even on a very low level.

I never had the chance to hook my Rumble 200 (v3) head up with a Fender 4x10 cab.
I have hooked it up to a Hiwatt stack (410 and 115 cabs) and oh boy that was bass heaven. Alas due to space constraints i had to opt for the Ampeg SVT410HLF (which was the other contender that day)... Also a pretty awesome sound but way different than the Hiwatt. Hiwatt had a more old school sound, really fat and ideal for live applications, whereas the Ampeg is more bright/modern. I do have to admit that the Pbass with flats work really well with the Ampeg.
My question is how does the newer Fender 4x10 Rumble cab compare to the Ampeg SVT410HLF cab sound wise. And also how does the Fender 4x10 Rumble cab compare to the Hiwatt 4x10 cab?

I was a HiWatt Fan when Greg Lake played through them on tour with ELP in the '70's. Had never heard of them before, and never heard them live since.
It's no secret, I don't like ampeg. Their HLF's are exceedingly dark by design. If you drop tune and are into sludge and death metal be my guest.

I think you'd be better of with a pair of Rumble 210 cabinets for good solid rock tone plus vintage on tap at anytime. Nice linear diagonally staggered array of 10's plus the sonic advantages of dynamically coupled identical speaker cabinets. You can't even begin to imagine such delicious tone until you taste it. Country & Jazz Fusion clean if you want. Funk me & Spank my bottom Slap 'n' Pop should you so desire.

Yes, Lake's bass tone back then was wonderful. And so was the rich, full sound of his amplified voice. I remember being struck dumb by the amazing quality, clarity and richness of his vocals. Even back then it knocked me over the head.

I'm not sure about this, but I believe the Tascam CD bass trainer does not have a volume control for line out (it does have volume controls for bass in and headphone out). So, when you use the bass trainer line out to the auxiliary in on the Rumble, it's at full volume and something could get damaged (including your ear drums).

Good point, Bob! Your signal into the AUX input goes straight to the power amp at full volume. You need to be able to attenuate your signal at the device itself.

I use mine a lot for practice and learning songs. I plug in my iPad with Tempo, a slow-downer app, so I can learn the song at a slow speed, and take it gradualy up to full speed. I also use it to play along with my favourite songs. I control the volume on my iPad. Works a treat with phones and MP3 players too.

Give me a couple of days ( maybe later tonight ) and I'll let you know how it sounds with the Tascam bass trainer. I have one but it's buried somewhere.

An update on my Rumble 500 combo, after over a month with the local authorized Fender tech:

As mentioned some time ago, my Rumble has this off-and-on issue where there will be a slight crackle noise that appears to come from the preamp. It usually starts the second I turn on the amp, then continues off-and-on while the power is on. Sometimes, it will do it for just a few seconds and then nothing again, other times it continues throughout usage. Sometimes the Overdrive light will blink in time with the crackle. At volume, it can’t be heard, but at low volume or when recording through the XLR, it is noticeable. I figured that since my band is on hiatus while recruiting new members, it was time to take advantage of the warranty and take it in for servicing. I dropped the amp off on April 8, and waited.

Fast forward to May 3. I hadn’t heard anything, and while I was told it would take a couple of weeks, I thought it would be time for an update. After a few phone calls, I got in touch with the amp tech. He told me that he just put it on the bench that day, and would give me a call the next day. The next day rolls around, and he calls. He’s looking over my notes, and tells me that he can’t find the issue that I described in detail in my notes. I explain it to him again, and he says he’ll hold onto it for a few more days to see if it comes up again.

May 9, he calls and says that he’s tested the amp and can find no issues with it, at all. He’s turned it on and off, turned it on and left it on, played through it (and said he dug the tone LOL) and there’s no issues. We agree that it’s best to give up, and to give him a call if it comes up again.

I didn’t actually get the amp back until May 16, due to some logistics issues, but I got it home, plugged in, turned it on and there it was, the crackle. It stopped after 30 seconds and that was that, and that seems to be where I am at with it right now, turn it on, it crackles for 30 seconds, and then it’s fine, and it’s done this every time since I got it back. I took my full rig to rehearsal last night, to check it out and hear how it all sounded in the new room that we are using, and it sounds incredible, as always. No crackle after the first 30 seconds or so from powering it on, and it was clean tone the whole way. Well, when I wasn’t using the overdrive that is LOL.

I didn't read the history.....but I get odd noises through my amp at home, that i don't hear at gigs....the way i understand it is that ceiling fans, dimmer switches, etc can introduce noise. Is it possible you have "dirty" power?
