Fender Rumble Club

:D:D
Practice.

Really nothing more complicated than that.
You pick your battles.
You learn how to cheat like crazy.
You learn how much you can get away with.
Fuzzy selections are your friend!

edit: I forgot to add that you do NOT use MS Paint!
I trust you; hey wait a minute, ain't you one of the guys that spill gas on my g.a.s ( a rumble for all occasions?).:D

I'm headed that direction! But with Rumble 115 cabs. Fender even mentions the Rumble 115 in the manual that came with the Bassman 500.

Oh yes... it came yesterday!
I ordered the Bassman 500 (15% off!) on May 5 with Income Tax Refund money

It was supposed to arrive the 2nd week of June but Christmas comes in May, I guess.
So far I am very pleased with the power and versatility of this head. It is a tone monster. It can be very clean or very dirty and everywhere in between. The overdrive is sent from heaven on angels' wings. I don't use OD much, but with this creamy to gritty palette, I may be exploring more.

In a twist of irony, the amp head was made in Ensenada, BC, MX, 150 miles from my home but had to travel 1,700-odd miles to KC and then 1,700-odd miles back to California.

At least the box looked unmolested, unlike most of the large boxes I've tried to get from GC's KC warehouse! The last one looked like it has been back and forth to Indonesia a dozen times, the tape all unstuck (I don't think the original packaging had any tape,) torn, gashed, and dented box, missing packing padding, loose parts rattling around inside, cabinet and metal corners dented and scratched. The sales droid asked, "So you don't want it?" Me: "Yes I want it but I ordered and paid for NEW merchandise, not old and busted crap."

and so it was refused and a replacement ordered.

I have asked GC personnel to write on the order: "New In Box only. No Open Box. No B-Stock. No Returns." Apparently this is an impossible request for GC. I have seen seriously battered boxes where someone has painstakingly refit the staples to look like factory sealed when it is glaringly obviously not. I am lucky because there is a GC just 6 miles from my home so I always have stuff shipped to there instead of my home. That way I can refuse shipment without ever having the merchandise leave the store. Even though I never sign off as receiving it, GC processes it like a return and with their horrible ancient software, it takes about 20 minutes to wade through the process. I have lost count of the number of items I have refused receipt because of obvious damage. I'm pretty confused by GC's casual treatment of product and customer. And by "confused" I mean "angry".

I'm naming names because GC needs to get their house in order.

Scott, I was looking at ordering a 500 from GC with the 15% coupon, but it said that Fender products were excluded! Do I just need to call?

So how old are we Rumble fans? I'm 62 years old, have been playing bass since I was 14!!! Lots of changes since then. I remember the days of hauling around an Ampeg SVT with TWO Ampeg 8-10" cabinets. Oh, my aching back. My Rumble 500 combo fills the bill for me now, playing the same music!

You got me beat by a year. I started out in 72 with a peavey series 300 with a 2x15 cabinet and a 4x12 cabinet - then I went to a V4B head and cabinet.

Now the love of my Rumble 500 head and Runble 2x10 cabinet.

So how old are we Rumble fans?

I'm 59 but I've only been playing bass seriously for the last 3 yrs. A former singer/guitarist all through my 20's, I went into a 20-yr musical hiatus at the age of 32. Decided to end my hiatus when I was 52 by acquiring my very first bass. Fooled around on it for the first few years before finally getting serious about it. Looking back, it was the best thing I could have done.

Welcome to the Fender Rumble Club @jchrisk1! :woot:

You are member #651 :hyper:  Rumble On!

One thing you have to do is raise your combo up off the floor and closer to your ear. There are a lot of good ways to do this, some better than others. My Rumble 200 combo (same size as the 500) works very well on a standard wooden chair. Getting that 20" of height really makes a difference. It also decouples your combo from the floor or stage. Try it and see. :bassist:

Linnin, i only know you got a Rumble V3 25 combo, but i never know you own V3 200 combo currently !!!! ;)

Hey guys, I could use a little direction with my 500 combo.
I've been hearing rave reviews about these rumble amps so I picked one up last weekend. Used it for practice Sunday evening and it sounded great. Very happy. And 36lbs!
Anyway, jumping forward to my Wednesday night gig. I couldn't hear my bass very well at all. It's new to me so I figure I need to learn the EQ section a little better to get the sound to cut through the mix. My main rig is a genz head through an Ampeg 410hlf. Punchy and loud as hell. But weighs a ton. And I'm done with toting that thing around. And it's too big for a lot of my gigs. Hence the 500 combo.
So, last night's gig was the same thing. Still had trouble hearing it. I set it up at ear level and that helped a bit, but the mids just weren't there. I'd read that someone said they dime the mids and cut the bass which is somewhat helpful, but I'm thinking that the speakers are throwing too far into the room for me to be able to hear it on the stage. Could that be? My percussionist checks our levels on our warm ups and says it's super loud out in the room. I'm just not sure what to do here.
Admittedly, last night's room is difficult to EQ.
I don't engage any contour as I'm a mid forward player. It does seem to me that the EQ section requires a lot of tweaking for noticeable results compared to my genz or Eden or even my GK. These amps only take a little to get a lot of results.
I really really really want this combo to work for me, so any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Chris.

Solution.

Ok all,

I am going to try one myself and I stink at covering with tolex.

So I was thing paint on finish with a metal grille(will help with cooling) I will still put a "fender Logo" on the metal grille.

PIC has tolex but think paint on

Let me know what ya'll think.

How about create both metal grille and cloth grille which available self adhesive or small neo magnet on behind, you can swap by mood.

How did you guys acquire the skills for all these kind of computer graphics and displays; did you go school or job training or just messing around with technology of the 21st century? I'm not old but I grew-up without a microwave oven or a color t.v.:)

Do worry Bro, i am 40, but sometime i cook some traditional food with charcoal. Just like you guy's barbecue.

I prefer eat the sweet potato which cover under the charcoal dust mix with mud. Wow..... tasty and wild.
