Fender Rumble Club

Found myself in the possession of a Fender 250 combo over the weekend for a pretty stellar price ($40).

WOAH...why so cheap you're probably wondering? Well, the guy i bought it from said it was missing a connector from the preamp to the speaker and i stupidly believed that to be something i could remove from my Crate 1x15 combo. Well, safe to say my Macgyvering didn't work haha.

Would anyone know what the piece might be/look like? I will attach a picture to help.

The terrible thing is the amp sounds AMAZING through the headphones so i can only imagine what it will sound like once i've fixed it.

I missed this post yesterday. Just what is wrong? You can always take it in to an Fender authorized service center for repair.

Just missing this piece that runs from the board to speakers.

That's slightly unfortunate, as i was hoping to fix it on my own. I cannot find a single picture online of what the actual piece looks like unfortunately
Sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet. Be glad your nearest Authorized Fender Service center isn't in a neighbouring country - if anything happens to any of my Rumbles I have to ship'em to Sweden! :meh:

Now I got to ask you Linnin,

Since this one is a 1997 model and the seller says that he used it quite a bit in gigging and it never got hot on him, do you presume that the Fender Custom shop figured out the issue with the cooling fan with the later ones that left the shop?
Yes, they did. So you have one of very last ones made. Call Fender and see if they know exactly how many were made. They should. You've got a seriously historic and rare rig there. A toast in your honor, sir! Cheers!

Thank you sir and thank you sir!

When I get it all together.. I will take a good outdoors sunny shot of the stack.. I will also call Fender and see what they allow.. Whom would I call.. just Fender or do I need to talk to someone in the Custom Shop?

Send Fender a shot via email to [email protected] You'll get a better response if you also call and alert them to it. Be sure your photo will be passed around. A lot. Ask for Bob Willocks, he's the department manager and also a bass player. You can see him along with Dave Lewis in some of the NAMM videos.

Fender won't sell you the part anyway, as they only sell to authorized dealers and service centers. Here's a link to the schematic.

Thank you for the schematic Linnin. Sadly, it does not indicate wether the connector is a 4-pin or 2-pin. The gentleman I spoke with at fender customer service was very helpful in getting me the information about the connection type, but not in what it physically is.

Highlighted in the schematic is the troublesome piece; I believe it to just be a 4-pin connector but with the splitting of the wires towards the speaker and tweeter i could reason it being. two separate connectors similar to the ones found in an old PA head IMG_3593.JPG

If only i could get my hands on asecond Rumble 150 to take a peek inside. (then i could definitely be a member of this club)

You are already member #659 ;) Take your Rumble to a technician. If it is only a connector and some wire and he is honest, it won't take long or cost much.

Well I will try my best to help on the hearing it when I get it all together! I may be putting my SVT up for sale sometime soon..
Very excited for you. I can't wait to see it all together. If I were you, I would never let that rig go. You have some major bragging rights right there. I'd love to hear that rig in action.

You Damn Skippy!
