You could do a mod like this: Fender Rumble V3 mod: separating amp and speaker2. Is there any way for me to use my V3 500 combo as a cab for the other heads?

You do know that if you are shopping with GC, that just because the local store doesn't have it, that don't mean that you can't get a good used one at a great price.. and have it shipped to your door and you are allowed now 45 days on return to no loss to you..
Used is my most likely route, indeed - I very rarely buy new gear. I'd just like to be able to actually HEAR a 500 before buying, if at all possible - and, even used, the 200 is likely to cost less and if it'll get the job done I'll be happy - and might even be able to buy a second cab to go along with it.

That is the beauty of shopping with GC.. you don't really have to "hear" before you buy, cuz if you don't like it.. march it right back to the nearest store and get your refund!
Usually not for used gear. There are exceptions, but I don't know the rules. It would be best to ask. That is the beauty of shopping with GC.. you don't really have to "hear" before you buy, cuz if you don't like it.. march it right back to the nearest store and get your refund!

Are you in Little Rock?
Very nice mod, Eric_b.
Does the mod (cutting to hole in the cab) have any perceivable negative impact on the sound of the combo?
I have not tried this, but I don't see that it would have much effect, if any at all. You are not changing the porting of the cabinet and that panel barely protrudes into the cabinet.
A month ago I archived eric_B's mod for prosperity... I mean posterity!

As BlueShox said, "If it sounds good, do it! ".....Not here. We mix and match as we please. All the V3 Rumble speaker cabinets were designed with this in mind and to play nice with others.

Nope, Northern Kentucky. I saw the 200 in Little Rock on the GC page for $189, but alas it sold...
Someone at.GC made a boo boo pricing that so low, that's in the ballpark of a used 100
I'd say you can't go wrong either way.Question for the Rumble users - I'm looking to get into some casual jam situations, and maybe light gigging in clubs, most likely with a drummer and a couple guitarists. I'm on a tight budget for amplification, and I REALLY dig the sounds of the Rumble 200 at the local GC. It seems to me that it's loud enough to hang with a band, but I'm not sure if I need to pony up the extra cash to find the 500...which no one has locally, so I'm also assuming I'd like the tone as well, though it leads me to question 2 - how much difference is there tonally between the 210 setup of the 500 and the 115 of the 200?
No, I didn't notice it. And the metal dish is rigid enough to make up for any negative impact the hole in the cabinet could have - if there is any.Very nice mod, Eric_b.

It is loud without the extension, but I really wasn't feeling the punch. Adding the 2x10 extension makes some difference in volume, but it also adds the physical punch you get.
As to EQ, I use pretty much what is in the Tone Pool for Classic Tube Bassman Tone except not so much volume.
