Fender Friday the 13th. It will be scary as I am likely to have the least expensive, least "pro" bass rig of the night, and make it do things a 200w class D pushing a 12 and 15 that are not barefaced/fearless/epifani etc, is supposedly not able to do. Such as compete with loud guitars, drums and even low drop C tuning.
No fenders tonight except the rumble rig, it is epiphone, OLP and Peavey this time.

I'm in.... newly acquired Rumble 100 in a cool grey. Sounds great, lighter than a bass case and loud enough to serve its purpose..... oh yeah and it looks cool.

was fear implied somewhere? I have not even been able to crank this without being told to turn down. I expect to convert a few skeptics. 3 other bands, 2 are 20 somethings on the metal/mix spectrum, and the iron maiden tribute I am expecting something along the lines of a pegfridge.
If any Rumblers are in the Houston area, on January 28th I'll be taking them to the Houston House of Blues, with our Ozzy/Sabbath tribute.
Not trying to do cheap advertising for a show, so my apologies on that, Im just excited to use them at a large venue. Then again, our stage scrims cover up our rigs, so I could be playing thru a transistor radio back there and nobody would be none the wiser about it.

Went to the Tiki Bar last night to catch ubernator play in two bands: Rozen's Bridge and Toxicity. Toxicity was quite a polished act with a perfect mix and a tight ensemble.
Keith had the Rumble 200 sitting atop a Rumble 112 cab, with the LINE OUT going to the PA. Sounded great! Good meeting Keef in real life.

Anyone been playing a Fender V3 500 head through an Ampeg 810E? It's been killer through my Ampeg 410HLF. The HLF actually beat out the two Fender 410 Rumble cabs I purchased. The HLF was so solid, deep, punchy and growly with the 500 V3 head. The two 410 Rumble cabs couldn't even keep up. They were loud enough together but the shrill high end couldn't be tamed even by turning off the horns. They sounded like a couple of bees nest compared to the HLF. Both 410 Rumble cabs are gone but I love the Rumble 500 head too much to let go. So if anyone has played it through an Ampeg 810E what do you think?
Next week I will have a pickup for my 1/2 size double bass. Not my 4/4 double bass in my Avatar. I am excited to see just how it sounds with my Fender Rumbles. A lot more chances to play around here when you offer the upright bass option. I will report back here and let everyone know how the Rumble performs with double bass after I give'er a whirl.
An 810e is a total different sound than the 410hlf. Perhaps you want the 610hlf if you want to move more air. Closed back 4 chambered 810 vs low frequency optimized ported cab. The HLF is very scooped and the E is more of a low mid punch but does not hit deep like an HLF. Try stacking a pair of rumble 210s instead, will beat out your 410hlf, and be much lighter. 810e is early 70s technology, and HLF is 90s. Time for an update. The 210 rumble is a different beast than the 410.
Also, you have a treble knob on your amp, you don't have to use the bright button, and you might like vintage mode. Not being able to tame the high end on a 410 sounds more like a personal issue rather than an equipment issue.
I know what they all sound like I've owned them all. Treble knob wasn't missed nor was the high mid trust me lol. I got my first bass Jan 18th 1989, this isn't my first rodeo. The 810E is 70s technology which has been refined over the years. There are like 4/5 variations of the Ampeg 810 depending on year and maker & It's still the "Go-To" cab. Two 210 rumble cabs aren't any more technically advanced than anything else its still speakers in a wooden box. The rumble 410s didn't work for my sound or the band. They couldn't hold it down smooth enough when laid into even with compression. They sounded a lot smoother played through my Ampeg 4 pro but still just wasn't there. Also the tolex was pealing off both of em and the speakon inputs were very rough & not smooth to use which kind of pissed me off for two new cabs. I'm sure the Bassman 410 Neo would work great but I can get a new 810E for the same price. To be noted the Fender Bassman 500 head sounded great though the rumble cabs. They were super warm but I'm not a fan of that head or the Fender tone stack. We play in C-standard, I don't need the depth of the HLF but I'd "prefer" something in that vein with a nice, punchy low mid forward growl without the very slight mid scoop the HLF provides & that is the 810E. I sold my old SLM 810E (Nasty OSB) cab about 5 years ago and have missed it ever since. I went on the "Lighten Up My Bass Gear" soul search. Playing most light gear always left me sour. The two Ampeg 7pro's that failed on me also kind of killed my vibe until I played through a Rumble 500 head. The Rumble 500V3 is the bees Knees for sure. I just wanted to get the opinion of someone who's played the head through an Ampeg 810E since I haven't done it yet myself.

The rumble 210 is newer in the sense that the diagonal 210 rather than the typical side by side 210, has more cabinet area per driver, and hits lower than any ampeg 210 ever made, much lower than my Goliath IIjr ever hit, it is more like an eden d210xlt in terms of low end, but with better mid dispersion since the drivers are not side by side.
They just got it right with the 210, the 500 combo and 200 combo box, all the same size. Stacked rumble 210 is a really nice rig.

At least try them before making a decision. If you can demo a 500 combo it is essentially the same as the 500 going into one 210, except the construction on the cab is a little better than the combo, and someone here mentioned there is a subtle difference in the resonance, since the cab has recessed side handles and just a small back plate for the jacks, compared to the combo that has the amp on the back and just a top handle. Eminence China factory makes the 210 and 112 for fender, and the combos and 115 cabs come from fender Indonesia, and the 410s are from mexico.
