Fender Rumble Club

I am losing track of threads...... my band auditioned a new drummer this past Sunday---he was ready and my new project is off the ground.

Seems like I posted about it here a week or so ago..... Fender related because the band is built around a Rumble 500C and a fender 212R. lol

I have to laugh---I have a very aggressive alpha male trio---except one is a female. lolololol. 4' 11" of solid aggression.

Well, here's the new rig. 500 head and two 12" cabs. Sounds pretty good so far. Lots of power! Very rare to have an amp in the house, so it's nice to experiment in the comfort of my living room. Rattling the windows like crazy though! I have a Fishman EQ that I use mostly for the compressor. Not too sure if it's better in front, or in the FX loop. It's invaluable for UB and EUB, but I use it for EB as well. Sometimes I worry that it's dulling the natural sound of the amp. I wish the rumble had a speaker off switch, as it barked at me when I plugged in the EQ. Even with the volume down. Haven't messed with the tweeter settings yet. So far so good. I have an acoustic gig Sat. So I'll be bringing the head and one cab. Should be a hoot!

The EQ belongs is a closet at home. You don't need it. The Rumble has very good build in compression. I suggest adding a 40 combo to your collection. It is much easier on the windows and the pre is the same as the 500 so you can use the same settings.

Easier on the windows....yes. But the 40 doesn't make my vision blurry like the 500. Also, the 500 is good at removing head congestion. I think the 500 is good for your overall health (except the blurry vision thing). A Fender added benefit.

The Fender Rumble 500 + twin Rumble 112's is a giant killing mini-stack!

It most likely is, and you don't need it for electric bass guitar as the Rumble already has better built in full range dynamic compression.

Yeah, I can tell already that I won't be needing the EQ with this. But it works well with the piezos on my uprights. Gotta have that impedance matching.

I guess I'm Rumbler #745?
Got a Rumble 100 v3 and MIM Precision this week and I'm impressed with the sound. Still getting to know the amp and bass a bit better, but it's a huge improvement over the Ibanez GSR-200B and Ashdown Tourbus 15 I was playing before.
It's my first post on talkbass, but I've been reading stuff here for a while.
Congrats! That is a great working set up!

Fender's Principal Engineer, Dave Lewis, is smarter than your average bass player or any other bass playing engineer. When he and his design team came up with the now world famous 'Rumble Magnetic Attachment System' it was a masterstroke of engineering brilliance! Bass Amplifier Engineers across planet Earth were doing a faceplam  and saying "Damn! I wish I'd thought of that!".
In the Rumble combos all of the amps are solidly attached to the combo cabinet. The amplifiers are well designed to withstand all the vibrations of bass playing and even worse than that - shipping & transportation. Fender Rumble combo players do not take their amps out of their combos and lay them on the floor. It is totally ludicrous to do so with a Fender Rumble head. Use the Fender Rumble Magnetic Attachment System as it was designed and intended by the brilliant masterminds of Fender Bass Amplification.
Yeah, I know, but you see what happens when a brilliant mind is interpreted by a feeble one.:woot:
I think I was facetiously referring to a previous post where I used to set my SVT head on the floor years ago when I had one, partly because I thought it might get vibrated on the cabs (2 Acoustic 2 15s and partly because I didn't want to lift it up there, we were our own roadies).
Who knows where that idea came from? It was a long time ago. It was an awesome head but I like this little 5 lb miracle just fine.
BTW, I actually do have mine in the ingenious magnetic holders when I play it. That really was a good idea.
IDK if you got that above info at the Fender web site, but they do have a lot of interesting stuff there.
Hey, you don't think those magnets are coloring my sound, do you?
Cheers!

Yea, Buffalo Trace bought them out.

A few years ago I read on a bourbon forum a post by a former employee of Buffalo Trace. He said they threw some kind of shindig for all their distributors one Saturday night. The CEO or whoever showed up a little late and noticed a lot of empty bottles of the Old Charter 12yo. A few bottles of the Buffalo Trace top shelf we're open of course but most were digging the Old Charter.

The following Monday a meeting was called and resulted in an arse chewing and the firing of a couple of guys. The CEO was livid that the top shelf brands weren't being promoted.

One guy that was fired said the wrong thing at the meeting. "A few guys tried the Old Charter and word spread around and everybody wanted it. What were we supposed to do ? "

Anyhow the meeting concluded with the CEO announcing that production of the 12 yo would cease immediately. A year or two later they also stopped production of the 10 year old.

After they stopped the 10 yo I began boycotting all Buffalo Trace brands save for the occasional bottle of Old Charter 8.

Back when I got hip to the Old Charter 12 in the late nineties it was only like 12 bucks a fifth lol

Old Charter never spent a ton on advertising, thus the great bargain price.

I tend to sip Elijah Craig 12 yo these days.
+1 Elijah Craig!! Yes!!

Ever been inside a Harbor Freight store ? If so, what are your thoughts on the smell ?

99% of the stuff comes from China and I was wondering if it's toxic.

Smells like mothballs to me. The smells in the telescope boxes from China and Taiwan were a little bit different, sometimes almost like a mildew scent. One of the guys who worked repairs and performance testing in the back would take a whif and say, "smells like Shenzen!" He had lived in China. He said the same thing about harbor freight. Sometimes scope boxes would have that mothball scent too. It's been 6 years since I have been at the scope place. There was never an overwhelming smell in the warehouse, so perhaps cheap tools generate more mothball goodness

I finally tried out the rumble aux in and headphones thing. I was away from home and had to practice, so I just used the 200.

Having the aux in stereo really helps, and even the overdrive sounds good in headphones. I didn't get around to trying an external dirt box though.

But oops, apparently my fender logo had broken and I didn't notice it at the time because I couldn't find the piece in the back of the car. Perhaps it happened when someone was helping me load in or out. It still says fender though, with a less distinguished F.

I was in my local Harbor Freight yesterday and I asked one of the employees about the smell of the place. He said some of it is from the Rubber products especially the tire chocks. He said a lot of it was from the tarps and also the anti-rust solvents on the metal wares.

I couldn't imagine working there.
