Ok, just picked up a Rumble 100w v3 model, new. Putting it through its paces at the house. Dunno how to post a pic on here, but I'll work on it later.
So far, so good. Loud enough for small gigs, depending. Tone is good. Just what I expected from the Eminence special design. I can hear the speaker flap if I make it so with added lows and volume. But, that was just to test it. Gain, low, and master at 3:00 and plucking hard. No problem, I won't be playing it that hard. But I'd like a more robust speaker in the future. No hurry, this thing sounds good.
Eq works fine, the knobs at center frequencies I like, especially the low and low mid knobs. I'm guessing 80Hz and maybe 200-250Hz respectively (anyone know?).
The filters are interesting and work as advertised. I like the vintage one best.
The overdrive isn't my thang, but I'm having fun playing with it.
A/B'd it against my Markbass CMD 121H combo. At the same volume the Markbass brought out the lows better, shook the floorboards more, and its B&C driver felt tighter. But of course. The Mark also had a warmer tone. Overall, it made the Fender sound a little boxy and lightweight, and it is, but the Fender will go a long way doing what it does best -- lower volume stuff.
Anyway, satisfied so far. I got this purely to carry around for soft rehearsals and small gigs. I can't haul the heavier stuff very much anymore with my knee and shoulders. It will be perfect for all those short little trips here and there for a coyple of hours. The cab is a tad bigger than I'd like, but the 22 lb. weight makes up for it.
I had also considered a Markbass CMD 121P combo, but the cost was prohibiting, and the Fender weighs seven pounds less. Besides, I was ready to take a side step away from Markbass' center frequencies of 40Hz and 360Hz for lows and mid-lows. It's also interesting to play an amp that has a more built-in tone bias as opposed to the Markbass' more flat and transparent recipe. Both amps sound great. The Mark is truly amazing, but ain't cheap.
So...I'm having a blast with my Rumble 100 v3. I'm quite proud of it.
