Why not have both?Instead of a cigarette burn on the headstock this one is headed for a coffee stain
Too late for me to return it, so let's talk about replacement speakers -- serious ones. I've heard folks on this thread changing to Kappalite and Basslite. But I'm not up on speakers, so I need some advice. I think my 100 is plenty loud if only the speaker could handle it.
What should I look for, a 200w speaker? More? What's a good neodymium model? And what about the Kappalite and Basslite. Are they good enough?
Also, has anyone gigged a 100 v3 hard, and I mean HARD, to see what it can take?
Yes, I put a Deltalite II 2512 in my Rumble 100C and I like it, the sound and build quality is great. I haven't tried a Basslite S2012 so cannot compare but the Deltalite is 3 dB more sensitive so you might squeeze a bit more volume out of the Rumble. That would be one @eric_B, an ultra intelligent lefty from the Netherlands. Either choice is good. The Deltalite II simply has greater power handling capacity that you don't need for a 100 watt amp. In a blind listening test between the Basslite and Deltalite both installed in a Rumble 100, I seriously doubt you could tell any difference.
Power handling between the 2 models? Can't say I'm not doing future planning for my 112 cab, warranty is up in June, not sure how much lifespan was taken off by the overpowering smell incident. Would want at least 250rms, a little more would be welcome, not having to make any changes to the cab would be nice too.
Good point, Eric. For those of you that care, click the blue "modding a Rumble 100" link in Eric's signature and take a peak at how gorgeous that Deltalite is compared to the Basslite in my thread. But you can't see 'em once they're installed.Yes, I put a Deltalite II 2512 in my Rumble 100C and I like it, the sound and build quality is great. Yes and yes once more. The Deltalite looks great IMO but in the end it is the sound that matters....take a peak at how gorgeous that Deltalite is compared to the Basslite in my thread. But you can't see 'em once they're installed.![]()
I just double checked some numbers on the Eminence site and the Deltalite is only .9dB more sensitive than the Basslite. The Basslite actually has a higher max excursion (Xmax) of 5.2 vs 4.8 and a higher maximum mechanical limit as well. As one might expect, they both move the very same volume of air. So take your pick as you'll be just fine either way and you won't be able to tell the difference once installed in your Rumble 100.You'd be fine with the Basslite but could potentially reach max excursion / point of damage more easily...and the extra sensitivity and volume potential of the Deltalite is a plus too.
I'd stay with the stock Eminence ceramic-ferrite woofers. They truly are totally custom designs especially for Fender Rumbles and are a BIG reason why Rumbles sound so good.Yes and yes once more. The Deltalite looks great IMO but in the end it is the sound that matters.
I also considered replacing the 2 10s in my Rumble 500 with Deltalite II 2510s.
But then I would want the speakers of my Rumble 210 cab to match them so I would need 4 2510s. And that is serious money.
I don't doubt it would sound great but I'm not sure the total investment would translate into equal sound improvement - the stock speakers are no joke either.
Hey, you're right, I stand corrected. I downloaded spec sheets for both speakers when I did my mod and the S2012 file stated 97 dB sensitivity then. If it is up to 99 dB now it might be an even closer call.I just double checked some numbers on the Eminence site and the Deltalite is only .9dB more sensitive than the Basslite.
It is 99 vs 99.9, and it could be that the Basslite has been re-engineered and improved. Neodymium has most certainly come down in price too. I'm sure I paid $130 for my S2012 and now they are $95.Hey, you're right, I stand corrected. And - by the looks of it - a yellow submarine clone? The V2 Rumble 112's I had came factory loaded with custom tweaked Eminence Deltalites.
So, what do you reckon: was it AC or DC powered?
yes, Sorry, I forgot to include it.Not 15?![]()
