Fender Steve Harris neck

Hello guys, I've been trying to find this information for some time now and it has just occured me to search TB. Does anyone has the exact measures of the neck that comes with th SH's model? It's an unusual profile, really chunky. One more thing, does any one know where I can buy/have one made?

If the Steve Harris model is a 1.75" wide nut with a thicker profile, it is probably what Fender describes as a "Thick C" profile, such as found on the Roger Waters sig p-bass.

NOTE: This is only a guess, as Fenders site has no info on the neck profile for the SH model. I don't think Fender would make yet another thick style of the 'C' profile neck though, as production-wise it doesn't make sense. The '57 AVRI is also 1.75", but is simply (too simply) described as being "C shaped", although I think they meant "Thick C".

I tried out the '57 AVRI and the Roger Waters a few months back, and if I recall, they were the same profile.
After awhile, I found I could adapt, although I didn't buy either.

Maybe someone who actually owns a Fender with a Thick C could verify.

I though so, but then I compared the two and the SH neck was way beefier than the one in the Roger Waters's sig. You guys thik it may be custom made? The SH sig is based in his old pbass and I don't think he had a custom made bass, or neck, back in the 80's. Maybe is a standard produced neck back when he got the original bass.

Sorry Franco, I was only guessing that Fender didn't make yet another C profile and so I will have to retract my guess in the above post :).

The only two Thick C's I am remotely acquainted with are the Roger Waters and the '57 AVRI. If you think the Steve Harris model is thicker yet, we'll have to wait for an actual owner of one to respond.

I guess it is possible that there is yet another profile.

I played it (love it) and it is definitely thicker than a Standard P and a AVRI 57'. I'd call the profile a D, but around the nut it slims to almost a C. I couldnty get a measurement but it was big

Me too, I can't exactly remember the shapin', but the "D" is apt to describe it, and it's way thicker than the Roger Waters' (I once owned it, and it's a Precision Classic neck with brass nut and no truss rod listing) and the AVRI '57 my close friend holds...

All I can say to give you a goin' is that is a "glossy" version of Yamaha Attitude limited II "satin" '69 shape TelePrecision neck

I'm serious.
I'm sorry not being able to help you more: it's just that I don't have the Steve Harris', for I need two pickups, more powerful than the SPB1 and a detuner, soundwise (that's why I've got the Billy Sheehan's).

Cheers,
Wallace

I have this bass. Tell me how to measure properly and I'll do it.

To get it 100% you'd have to mould it - then slice the mould...:help:

Front to back measurements would be helpful (12th fret, 3rd fret, heel, headstock, 1st fret etc...) but You'd need a calipers.
I've a 'modern C' shaped neck on my telebass... 1.65" nut. there's probably a clever way to measure it and compare.

I'd say a few people could do it and the results would be worth the effort...

Front to back - approx:

1st fret: 4.33 inches
12th fret: 5.75 inches

It's not 100 per cent correct, but it gives you an idea.

???????

4.33 inches is pretty thick lol :D

Fender modern player telebass, approx neck measurements. I'm ignoring frets.
Nut width 41 mm or 1.625".
1st fret thickness (front to back): 19 mm / 0.748"
12st fret thickness (front to back): 23 mm / 0.906"
1st fret width: 43 mm / 1.693"
12st fret width: 52 mm / 2.047"

Shape is 'modern C' with a 9.5" radius.

All values are rough (+ or - a milimetre or 3...:ninja:).

OP posted his question 4 years ago - pretty sure he has it figured out by now...
