Fender Stu Hamm Urge I - Help Please

This one presents as a closet queen, single owner, barely played - otherwise, I'd've already moved on. That being said, you may well be right. I'd prefer a black one anyway...
My take on this would be to ask the seller. Tell him you noticed a significant drop in output with the J-bass pickups.
Perhaps he can enlighten you on that. It could be his settings.
If the rest if the bass is fine I would shoot him a price based on your perception.
Also have him isolate the front pickup and the back one. It may be just the back pickup has less output. That could be just a pickup height issue.
If the rest if the bass is fine don’t let it get away.

Well, if I'm being honest, this is likely to be more of a collection bass and not a gigging bass. My Fender RB IV & V would be very difficult to top for gigs. Plus, they look classy. Whereas these...well... Like I said, black would be my preference, ha.that's the issue! find one that's a little more beat up
Yeah, we've already had a bit of back and forth. He's not the most informed seller, so I'm trying to kind of walk him through some troubleshooting. Next stop is a fresh battery. He said he hasn't changed it in 15 years, so I'm really hoping it's not a leaking, corroded, horror show.
Well, if it is somewhat corroded it’s an easy cleanup and fix. You could just replace the snap connector and leads.
Plus it may be a negotiating factor.
If this is an original owner and it’s been stored away I would want a photo of the neck from each end and the pickup height.
I would also ask him if the strings are 15 years old as well.
I would imagine this bass is in very good cosmetic condition. This could be quite a gem.

Yes, but the drop off is pretty common in a bass with 3 pickups in close proximity to each other. I have a couple of PJs and the J-Bass pickups aren’t as hot as the Ps.
Also, even though the P-Bass pickups is standard size, the J-Bass pickups aren’t standard. When I rebuilt mine I tried to find new pickups to replace the originals and Bartolini was the only option.
Could you post some pics? That color is difficult to find so it would a collector’s item and the USA Urge 1 is getting more difficult to locate.

Yeah, I've seen that one. The listing states that the original pickups "require service". Would certainly need new wire leads because those are cut too short. But I'm assuming he/she is referring to something that would require rewinding. So you'd need to add several hundred dollars to that price for a likely rewinding to get it back to original (in addition to the utterly outrageous shipping charge...geez).
Yes, the bass output is not as design intended. I'd ask for a price adjustment to reflect this.
As @Pep indicated, if you buy it you will end up gigging a lot with it. It is light, small and you can get a tones out of it, specially if you like slapping.
Not an unknown issue with Lace Sensors - at least IME. Currently have 2 basses with them and they’re pretty quiet compared to my other basses.
That being said, Lace is still in business so getting replacements isn’t an issue - if you’re even wanting to keep them. I know a few people who changed theirs out.

That’s really clean one. Most that I’ve seen look a lot rougher than that one.

Remember that electronics can be repaired, but cosmetics in that condition for a bass possibly 30+ years old is very difficult to find and something you wouldn’t want to refinish. Some 5 year old basses don’t look that good.
