I just heard from a guy that runs a music shop, so he is reliable, that Fender just bought out SWR. I was planning very soon to buy a California Blonde anyways but should I really hury up now? I mean are they changing a bunch of stuff to the SWR line? I'm sure you cats know more bout it than I do lol.

Double Bass Fender = SWR

That happened quite some time ago. Unless it's really old stock, any SWR gear you find in a store is Fender-owned.
And to answer the other part of the question...SWR products are largely unchanged from their pre-Fender days.
