Thinking of pulling the trigger on an Ultra Precision. Cant decide on which colour. What do you guys think? Happy voting
You're in trouble! They're all great. I'd suggest the natural if you could find one as they're discontinued and going to go up in price quicker (the grain makes them more individual as well as they all look different) which would put the plasma next. That's the only way I can make a preference as they're all beautiful but I would happily start a campaign with you to get them made in Texas Tea!! Good luck.
Now that’s a campaign I could really get behind haha. Texas tea would look beautiful on the P. I like the natural too, but not sure if it implies too much of a “I played in the 60s” vibe where as the others are a bit more contemporary.
Arctic Pearl for sure. Would look even better with a white, mint or black pickguard. Runner-up would be Mocha Burst.
I'll narrow it down for you. Go with a maple neck. I'm not a burst fan, but the Plasma Burst one looks pretty good. I wouldn't tell anyone it's Plasma Burst, of course, but that's just me.
The first one - white/tort. My 2008 P is just like that, turned "cream" with time. And that maple neck. Have fun shopping!
How does the White one sound vrs the Natural one? What other colors are the guys in the band using? Will this be seen on The Voice, Saturday Night live, or Youtube? Tubes or SS? Too many variables to consider here.
These finish / pick guard combos look a bit off, or just unappealing to me. That is surprising because I think Fender has always made a P bass that I jive with. None of these designs seem all purpose; as if they each settle into a specific genre. To me, the greatest asset of a P bass is that you can take it out of a case in absolutely any situation, and it can always blend in, take on a role, and get the job done right. I don't see that in this crop.
I chose Nat, but I would go with a maple fb. Not ever a big fan of white if I have other options, though none of those bursts shown really do anything for me. I think the old Elite had better burst options....
I rarely like them, but this bass in white REALLY does it for me. I might get an aftermarket celluloid tort pickguard, but then again, I might not. Natural's a close second, and generally speaking my most favoritest for Fender basses. Natural should be with maple, though, white can go either way but goes best with rosewood in my opinion. Same deal as the other on the pickguard.
I like the Mochaburst and the Plasmaburst, personally. The regular sunburst and natural finished are kind of plain Jane, and I found the Arctic Pearl to be ugly in the shop.
I voted Plasma, but the Mocha is right there with it so I went back and changed my vote. If I was choosing between the two it would come down to which neck I wanted, rosewood or maple. Wish the Mocha had the pickguard that the plasma has. Then there would be no question for me, Mocha all the way.
