Does your E string rattle in the nut slot? And what have you done to remedy this problem? Does Gotoh offer a string retainer that holds down 4 strings?

Well...The string retainers on the MIA Deluxe Vs holds all the strings, including the B.
On my MIA Jazz V I am careful to wrap the string around the tuning post properly, so it comes off the lowest point and gives the greatest angle from there to the nut.
I did not know that the Fender V's had retainers for all 5 strings, I assumed that they were the same as the RBV's.
As far as wrapping the E string, it's positioned down at the bottom of the string post. I have met 2 other RBV users that have the same problem,,,,,wish Gotoh offered something to fix this.

I don't have any issues.
Are you using a string gauge that is a lot lighter than the factory Fender strings they cut the nut for?
Check the string gauge and if you're using the gauge you like then you might need to get another nut cut for it if it's worn.

Fender MIA basses call for a .110 E string so anything much smaller might rattle. I've owed a RB5 and currently own a FMT V, I use Fender 8250's when I can find them. I try to never use strings lighter than recomended guages.
Thanks guys! Upon further diagnosis (bifocals were handy) I found the .100 TI-JF string to have a sloppy fit in the slot; I can move the string side to side. Also found that the D and G strings are sitting to close to the board; under spec. Time to send it in and have a new nut installed.
The usual solution is to make sure your "E" string has enough length above the tuning peg so that it can be wound around the peg many times, from top to bottom, finally emerging at the bottom of the peg (closest to the headstock). But it sounds like you may need a new nut instead.
Thanks Phil...yes, only the tops of the tuning pegs are visable (except the D string).
