I had that same exact head back in '71. To say it struggled pushing 2 D140s' in a Sunn 200s cab is an understatement! I had to start playing with a pick to be heard in the mix, 50 watts isn't a lot to gig with in a rock band setting. Funny with Bassmans I always preferred playing through the normal channel instead of the bass channel. I liked the extra top end which gave me more of that woody, Jack Casady tone I was after. When I switched to an Ampeg V4B I missed that top end that I could get from the Fender amps. Would love to have another for practice around the house. The best Fender tone I had was with an old Blonde Showman head that I had loaned to me for about 6 months. Not a whole lot louder than the Bassman but enough to make a difference, and the sound was to die for, I was still playing flats on my old Jazz Bass and it almost sounded like an upright bass. Had a chance to buy it but passed on it in favor of the Ampeg because of more power, still preferred the Fender for tone though. Jim

I've posted this pic a few times lately, but if you like the Bassman sound there is nothing I can find that equals this. It is fully operational and incredible beyond my expectations . no problem keeping up with the guitars with this. I actually like the normal channel a little better because of the middle control and brightness switch. It literally shakes the whole house!!!!!
