Actually, I'm going for the 30 dollar gig bag. I can't have a case that cost more than the bass inside!!!

I had trouble finding the specs for gig bags. Then I googled "Thunderbird Gig Bag" and whatayaknow, first link. DUH. Why didn't anyone post that google search animated thingy on here? I certainly deserved it ha ha!

If you are going to use one of these:
BE sure you know how to use it, or your project may end up looking like THIS!!!!
OOOPS. Well, the Fender neck fits now, and it IS tighter up against the body (rounded vs flat don't you know). Now to find a saddle. Decided to keep the original bridge for now (due to me being broke)--hopefully my local guitar shop has a spare saddle that will work. DiMarzios are in and I scored some chrome tele-style knobs. Finish line is on the horizon!

So, while I twiddle my thumbs waiting for a few auctions to end on ebay--waiting on a new bridge--an interesting item came up on craigslist.
A Mighty Mite unlined fretless! Originally, I had the maple neck on a MIM Jazz that was my first bass. I refinished it walnut and threw on the maple neck (the original neck was probably tweaked, since the time I bought it in 1993).
So, since the maple neck is going on the Fenderbird, and I now have a perfectly decent jazz body, and since the unlined fretless neck was only 70, with tuners....I made this guy...
I made the headstock match, so I guess I gotta keep the neck...
Is it wired just for volume? Yes it is. I may actually change that though.

Actually the end broke off so it's just flopping on there for show. I'm getting a proper set of flats for it this week.
NOW, all I have to do is learn how to play it....

I finished the Fenderbird. Oddly enough, I am still looking to put on a new bridge, but that's for the future. Maybe after Christmas.
I've used it at a couple of gigs, and although the overall length takes some getting used to it sounds great (those DiMarzios are magic!)

Unless I can find a used one, WAAYYYYYY to expensive (although they look awesome).
