FenderBird question

I'm sure just about anybody (except me!) could set it up. This was actually my first attempt at anything like this - when it came to finishing it up I was in over my head and knew it. Nuthin' wrong with calling in a pro :)

When I did my Fenderbird with my Epi 'Bird, I had my luthier round out the neck pocket to fit a Warmoth "Fender" neck. He also had to do a little routing for the Gibson-sized pickups. If you route these things, and it's the sunburst finish, BE CAREFUL! Under that finish is a veneer that WILL chip, so take your time if you want a clean route.

Ah - as I suspect, the epi is *not* solid mahogany - - what's under it (I'm afraid to ask!)? Alder? Pressboard? MDF?

Hope this helps.
Template is for a Fender neck.

Also my take on the FenderBird. (A work in progress).
