Fernandes basses...under-rated?

Hey everybody...I was wondering. are fernandes basses under-rated? I've noticed that not a lot of people has mentioned these basses, but I do know that there are a few people who dig these basses and I am aware that there's a fernandes bass club. I always thought these basses sounded pretty cool. I use to own one. it was a fernandes gravity 5x 5-string bass. it was pretty cool sounding bass. it sounded pretty punchy for a passive bass. recently I've been thinking about purchasing one. I do feel that these basses are under-rated. which is one of the reasons I was thinking about purchasing one. the other reason is the sound quality. I do dig the passive fernandes basses. I thought they sounded pretty cool. well anywho, I would like to know from your perspective, are fernandes basses under-rated?

I would of figured that these basses are under-rated. I had a feeling that they are. thanks for input, guys. and I do know there is a fernandes bass club and I know where to find it. I would like to join that club if I happen to own a fernandes bass. plus I was thinking of buying a passive fernandes bass. I use to own a fernandes gravity 5x. I thought that bass sounded pretty cool. anywho, thanks for the input. that really answered my question on fernandes bass guitars.

I would of figured that the tremor basses are pretty solid bass guitars. I even checked out some youtube clips on these basses. they have pretty cool sound. I know a few online music stores that still carries the tremor basses. both the tremor deluxe(active) and the tremor x basses(passive). also fernandes has an online guitar shop. I was thinking of purchasing a fernandes gravity 5x from there.

I just bought a 90's Gravity 8 string, and think it's a very good quality instrument, well designed, very nice player. It had a $1700 list price new,so it was a mid up-market model. I'm not crazy about the active pickup system in it,but it is relatively simple 2-band EQ and has very useable tones. I just prefer the warmth of a good passive pickup. That's sbout all i would change,it is a really nice bass.

I'd say they kinda fly under the radar. I bought a black MIJ Fernandes Jazz clone new in 1996. IMO it was a lot better than MIM Fenders from that era in the same price range. I sold it to a friend, sometimes I think I should have kept it and upgraded the bridge/pickups. I remember the basswood body dinged really easily.

Fernandes has never been super-popular with pros, though John Wetton, Robert Trujillo, Rocco Prestia, and Jill Cunniffe (Luscious Jackson) have played them.

I had one of these for a while. It was a very well made bass. Looked cool as hell too. Mine was like this except it had a reversed headstock.
