Hey all...I have been introduced to another fabulous bass building team - Fibenare Guitars, from Hungary. These basses are amazing. So you all know, I am not an endorser of Fibenare nor have I been compensated in any way for this post.

A little back story...

My friend and guitar player in my band met these guys at the winter NAMM show and they made a guitar for my him. He's the owner of the 'Rock Naton' music schools for kids, so Fibenare became a supporter of Rock Nation. Anyway, I really liked the guitar they made for my friend John and went on their site to check out the basses. They looked great and I told my buddy what I thought of them. Well, he contacted the guys at Fibenare and they sent 3 basses for me to play and check out. A 5 string, a 6 string and a 7 string.

The basses arrived last week and I am really impressed. The build quality is absolutely top notch, gorgeous woods, excellent craftsmanship, first class components and electronics...the whole package.

The 5 string is Hungarian ash, with a bolt on 34.5" mahogany neck. The bass weighs in around 9.5 lbs and balances perfectly.

All of the necks have a nice slim profile front to back and are quite easy to navigate, even the 7 string!

The 6 string is a neck through model with ash body wings, a gorgeous quilted maple top and a 34.5" maple/mahogany/purpleheart neck.

The 7 string is also a neck through model with a stunning poplar burl top, alder body wings, and a 34.5" maple/mahogany/purpleheart neck.

The electronics on all the Fibenare basses are their own...each of the 3 basses they sent me have dual coil pickups in wood covers, with volume, blend, 3 band EQ, series/parallel and active/passive controls. The 5 string has a 3 position rotary switch for the pickup selection, the 6 and 7 string have the normal blend pots.

These basses can go from smooth and mellow to nasty in your face funk! Slamming the bass and treble pots on the 5 string produced the thickest slap tone I have heard in a long time...the kind of tone that makes the windows rattle! Truly nasty in the best way...

Being mainly a 4 string player, I would have liked to try out one of their 4 string models. But I can tell you, the 5 string is a bass I would gig with... I'm not a 6 or 7 string player but they are really excellent basses as well.

Here are a few pics...

Below is a link to a slide show I created that has more pictures of each bass. They are really nice basses, well worth a look for someone wanting a nice custom bass. I am not sure of the pricing here in the U.S., again, I'm not affiliated with them! If you want more info, contact Attila Benedek at Fibenare, he's a very nice guy!

Enjoy the pics!!

I like what I see...

They are all that they seem...

I played the seven string , these basses have good sound and balance.
I was quoted the 7 in the 3k+ range , nice guys , we became friends and they love taking pictures.

Interestingly, the 7 string is a bit lighter in weight than the 6 string, but both balance perfectly and sound amazing.

It's bugging me that they don't have a picture of that thing on their website. It's the craziest guitar I've ever seen in person. It has a friggin eagle's head for its upper horn! It's a beautiful piece of art though, and it sounds killer.
