fieldys famous clicking sound

You just turn the treble all the way up, turn the bass all the way down, tune down to low z#, and hold the bass straight up and down. Gravity from the bass being held up will cause the strings to hit the posts on the pickups and click. 
Ok, i registered just to say a little something, for those who said fiedlys sound sucks, you are not real bass players, i hardly play bass, now for those of you who want fieldys sound, either get the video that fieldy teaches you to play, or turn up all your treble with a ampeg amp, also i recognized a little bass click in the song ''in the absense of sacred'' by lamb of god, its so awesome. ROCK ON KORN FANS!!!, and for those who reply say, 7 string guitars and 5 string basses ROCK!!!

i got to the point where you said if we dont like his sound were not bass players...first it almost made me spit my pepsi out on my laptop. second i laughed hysterically..third i got all sad and emotional for you.

fieldys music isnt my cup of tea but if homeboy wants to sound like him, more power to him.
dont go around blindly criticizing what and who we are by our likes and dislike unless you have something to back you up.
an ampeg will most likely not have ANYTHING to do with that sound as much as low action a tweeter and pummeling the frets with your slap and fretting. no one is really dissing 5 strings at all here nd korn is onto playing 8 strings now (biting mesugghas sound hard btw)
dont mistake your misinformed arrogant rant for some "i showed them" and you ought to create another SN and wait til you have something worth saying before you chime in.

the H&K cabs really had a tendency to accentuate that clang and i think other than his attack contributes the most to that sound.
also i think this interview snippet answers everything else
GC: Your bass sound is pretty radical with a lot of extreme low end coupled with a high percussive attack and rattle. How do you get that sound?
Fieldy: I don't use any mid-range, it's all highs and lows. I take the mid-range and turn that s--t off. And when you slap, it's just real clicky sounding and when you use your fingers it's real low. I take the graphic EQ at 180Hz and I take that all the way down too. That's the style I play. I'm a drummer. I'm a drummer on bass.
GC: Does playing with two seven strings change your role in the band? Does the extra low end coming from the guitars require you to change your sound in order to clear out room for them or to be heard in the mix?
Fieldy: Actually that's where the clickier sound comes in. It cuts through and makes the notes stand out more. As long at you use the straight low end, I think it might get a little muddy. So, it kind of likes helps the tone. If it was just a low bass tone, then it would be kind of a muddy sound because they're so low.

Here's how I see it.
Fieldy is not the best. Nor is his bass tone, but it makes Korn, Korn. It is unique and for Korn's sound, it fits well. I give him props for doing that. I would never use this tone, but for what he does, it's perfect.

I'm sure they were still big in 2001 when this thread was started. Now they've only got the fanboys who join forums just to defend their "honor."
