It's tough because as a defender, if you're going to go in for a slide tackle you HAVE TO touch the ball. If you don't touch the ball you're opening yourself up to a foul, and in this case the defender slid and didn't touch the ball. Hard to feel too sorry for him.

That's total BS. No reason for Americans to hate Mexico or for Mexicans to hate the US. That's a media-created rivalry. Don't fall for it.


I don't "hate" Mexico, but a friendly rivalry isn't a bad thing to have. I will admit though - I do find it rather annoying to see more ads for the Mexican team around the streets of Houston than I do for the US team.

I'm all for the rivalry when they play each other, but hating them when they play someone else is too much. That part of it is contrived and manufactured.

If we have a natural rivalry it would be with England or even Russia.

As for the ads in Houston, I'd blame that one Americans not appreciating the sport, and our national team, as much as we should.
