FIFA World Cup 2014

This has been a pretty fantastic day football wise.

Suarez hit with a relatively decent ban.
Liverpool's deal for Moreno cancelled by Sevilla.
Ander Herrera's United move almost official(Athletic Club have announced his contract is bough out).

Zusi to score a hat trick and finish my day perfectly.

Portugal really saved the US there lol Ghana was attacking like mad trying to get that 2-1. And I felt they where going to get it! Then there goalie makes a costly mistake, Portugal can pull back and defend. Ronaldo missed 2 more easy ones too afterwards. 2 good games to watch, glad I set up 2 tv's lol

Good to see at least one African team left in after the group stages - it's a not really a World Cup without them. And big congrats to the US for surviving a very, very difficult group.

Despite the England exit, I'm enjoying this tournament more than I have done since 2002 or even before that. This really is the greatest sporting spectacle in the world. I know people love the Olympics, but for me that's diluted too much by the sheer number of (often very "specialist") events going on. Right now, in Brazil, we have most of the world competing in ONE great sport and being watched on every continent.

And no wonder football is getting popular in the US with the tremendous success of their national side - the baseball "World Series" and the Superbowl just cannot provide the same sort of spectacle without the international aspect.
