FIFA WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA 2010

This tournament is the greatest sporting event of any sort for me - bigger than the Olympics. Shame it's only every 4 years.

England need to do well in this. I have my fingers crossed already.

Whatever happens, we have a feast of "the beautiful game" to watch over the next few weeks. Great stuff.

I`m sure that every country with a big name in the sport (England, Italy, France, Argentina, Germany, Brazil) think the same way. They`re always candidates.

BTW, Spain looks impressive so far and Brazil is powerful as usual. We`ll surely see some African team giving a surprise too.

:p

Alright, some content.

I just finished watching argentina's last official match prior to the world cup, Argentina beat Canada 5-0. I tell you, Argentina has a huge offensive power, I'm sure whoever plays against us will be a bit scared of that.
On the other hand, our defense...

..how about the manager - surely his brain has been totally addled by Coke now...

Don't they always. Every 4 years it seems to be all about how "England's time has finally come", only to have the hopes of an entire nation crushed after roughly 3 matches. :D

But, frankly, you guys seem to actually have a decent team this time and anything less than the semi-finals would be a pretty big failure.

Well - we have an "easy" group - where some team called USA are the main threats - if we lose a game in the group stages it will be a major shock! :p

I wonder wether it would be so big if it were held every year. I think that's part of it being so big.

Lol!!! still mad about the hand of god?! ;)

I've just seen the photos :

I sincerely hope that USA advances far enough for Obama to take a trip there because I'm tired of hearing all the fallout from the tournament director and people like that complaining about security measures. You guys asked for the "WORLD" Cup, and you should be expected to have the security measure in place to deal with VIP's.

On a lighter note, I can't wait for it to begin, and I'm really looking forward to USA v. ENGLAND

If someone wants to go, they can organise their own transport and security :p

Oh, and it's the USA vs England. Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales aren't involved in that game :p

Yeah - we don't need any Scottish players thank you very much and Ryan Giggs is too old!! :p

Also it makes it sound better when our tiny country of 50 million people, trounces one with about 6 times as many people to choose from!! :D
