Okay this one is just for fun really, so here goes:

What should go in this space? I have an Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter but that one is not part of the board, it sits on top of my amp for constant adjustment (I swear, the MFer is like playing a second instrument), but I'm considering getting an easy to use, plug-n-play envelope filter anyhow. I also have an old Boss BF-2B bass flanger but since it is so mellow I'd like something a little wilder, as well as being true bypass. I suppose a tuner wouldn't hurt, but I only tune up about once a month and my decade+ old Sabine handheld works fine, so that's a bit wasteful. Or I could just leave it empty for now until I stumble on something by accident. :D

Fill it with the Emma. I know you were interested in one and it would fit perfectly. You definitely have the dirt and modulation covered.

Of course, I'm waiting very patiently (I know it's hard) for the homebrew flanger.

Or.....a Prunes + Custard and ditch a fuzz. :)

You really don't think the bassdrive, hematoma, blue berry is a little overkill?

I would let the changes you've made recently sit and wear in a little bit before I swapped or bought any more stuff.

If you don't like that advice.. how about something crazy like a ring mod? Maybe a wild tremolo like the semaphore? The Emma is a fun pedal though....

It depends on how you use it and what you use WITH it. You can get some really neat stuff if you put it in between a Wah and a OD then into a trem and or phase, it’s the closest I've come to getting the arpeggio synth sound on PF’s One the run with a bass.

I voted flanger, cause ... I like the sound of flangers! :smug:

But if all your pedals are true bypass, then you could consider putting a good buffer at the beginning of your pedalchain (if you use a passive bass) or at the end (if you use an active one). Cause with such a nice collection of quallity pedals, I wouln't risk any tone-suck that might occur with long cable chains.

Nad, you mention the Boss BF-2B bass flanger. What's wrong with it? Is it to subtle? Can it make a nice chimey sound?

And it's not true bypass? I was thinking of getting one, but that makes me think twice before commiting anything.

I voted H.B.E. mostly because everything Joel touches turns to gold. I haven't heard of them making a flanger, but I'll bet it will be pretty sweet. Do you have any other info on it, cost or availability wise?

I also strongly recommend the EMMA DB-1. It should do exactly what you need and it'll also fit your "boutique" theme well.

Yeah, I'm probably going to get one of those or the Maxon, not sure yet. I'm just afraid if I do I'll always think "you wish you were the Moog, but you're NOT!" and then shun it. :D

Not yet. :D The Hematoma and Bass-Drive is an either/or situation, but the Blue Berry has a really unique sound. I've thought about which one (or two) to get rid of, but honestly they are all pretty useful to me. Maybe when I'm done with my overdrive kick I'll start thinning the herd, but I somehow doubt it. The Fulltone bites, the Hematoma chews it, and the Blue Berry carpet bombs.

Believe it or not, the original signal is pretty well preserved through all those bypasses and cables. A little treble bite is missing, but it's barely noticeable.

They are nifty little pedals, but are a bit subtle and not true bypass so it doesn't have a home on my board. I wouldn't let that discourage you from getting one though, they are pretty cheap and fun to have hanging around.

If you go to their forum on http://www.rig-talk.com/ Joel has a poll to decide his next pedal, and he said he would get started on the flanger after Namm this year. :cool:

Nad, Just as a side comment..... your board has really come a long way since the James Bond days of your top secret briefcase! I really like the simplified yet highly effective layout you have going.

And I'm right there with you..... one can NEVER have too many overdrives or distortions.
And I wonder where all my precious pedalboard realestate went......:rolleyes:

anyway, If you want to get a flanger, either wait for the HBE, or look at one of the non-boutique offerings.. Rocktron has a great one.. and honestly? Danelectro FAB for $15....

i voted the EverBoring "Leave it blank until you find something you need." i can't help but think that though the AF9 is cute as a button, it's not your bag. i may be wrong. it's just a feeling i get.

but hey, get one cheap and prove me wrong! i love mine!

oh, and:

haha, nice. Just joking about the Bassballs, I've never used one actually, just know it's one of those love/hate pedals. :D

Cheers, and thanks for the help along the way. :D I got word that a batch of Dredgetone Bass Anglers are being made this year so I might just wait for one of those...

Not a fan of compression, or even tubes for the most part. An octaver is something I used extensively in an old band of mine, but I haven't had use for one since. If I find a cheap OctaBass I may go for it though!
