Filling and Sealing A Hoke

Im looking to move my thumb rest on my Michael Anthony MA-4. After I move the thumbrest, I intend to fill the hole with toothpick/glue and stain marker it.

The question i have is, what do you suggest i use to seal the filled hole?

I would add a subtle hint of bling like a rounded brass wood screw or a quality brass tack. Fill the hole with a bit of dowel, crown it with the decorative tack.
