Finally, my first gig!

I just got home from my first gig ever! I have been playing for 3 years, but have just recently began playing with a band. If any of you Easter Ohioans or Pennsylvanians know of the Granati Brothers, they are my teachers. We had a gig tonight at a local family "pub". Just about 250 people. It was awesome! Im not going to lie. I am now addicted, and hope to do it again ASAP. I got so many comments, and remarks that felt so good and made all the practice worth it.

I know, lots of these pop up, but I post a lot here and have been waiting for this moment to post and tell you guys. ITs a great feeling.

Thanks guys! Yeah, stepping out in front of 250 people for your first gig is very mind blowing.

I think the best part was afterwards, as I was walking through the crowd, I felt as if I was at someone elses packed concert... then it hit me. They were there for me! That was a cool feeling. :bassist:

To all you other gig virgins, there is not a better feeling than having your family and friends, none the less random people comment you. Now get off the computer, and start practicing!

yeah, i played my first gig about 6 months ago and it was awesome. We had 3 guitarists back then (1 was the lead signer) and when he jumped and played the first chord, his strap totally came off. Se had to go around the first riff about 8 times while he sorted it out. And then because we were offset into our timings, we went into the pre-chorus at the wrong time. Great first song. It was in a huge park and apparently they let in about 250 people, but there was only about 2 rows of people at the front :D
I'm gonna be playing a gig in front of about 2 or 3 thousand people in may and i can't wait! my advice would be to get a big amp, like I have done, and then upgrade bass (unless you've already done that?). But always upgrade big, like get a BIG amp worth about £500, and a good guitar for about £6/700 that will last the rest of your life.

Your ordinary Joe doesn't understand how empowering it feels to be on that stage, everyone looking at you, moving to YOUR fingers and the lines you lay down. I told my wife a long time ago I had the disease.....the musician's disease. Don't ask a lot of questions and we'll be fine. Still married, still playing. Jammin' other peeps arses off is as powerful as any drug you could ever do.(not condoning drug use). Welcome to the addicts of the low end.
