Double Bass Finally my new bass!

Playing high C, for a while, definitely helps intonation! Once you progress a bit, you will start shifting anyway because high Cs do not sound too good in half position.
I would advice to work through Some easy etudes to learn the notes on the C string.

That’s awesome. I checked out a 5 string Chubby at Shank’s about 30 years ago right as I was making the transition to upright. It was probably the right decision at the time to not go with it ... but I always wondered what if I had!
