Finally Played One and It Was Terrifying. ;)

I probably just muddied the waters more than I helped!!! :hmm:

Yeah, you and everyone else! Since I have to keep up with a metal band, the 15/6/1 seems to be the best choice as far as headroom, portability, and price point. Or maybe the 1212/66/1.... From what I've read, have two woofers is optimal for that "enveloping" sound you mentioned, dOr, and would contain all of the sound qualities and versatility one would need, especially since I'm a one cab kind of guy. But my poor back... not to mention I drive a sedan. Maybe a 15/6/1 is the way to go, then work on a 12/6/1 down the road to pair it with.

Just my opinion but having heard the fEarless 112, if you're paying someone to build them I would go with the fEarless line over the fEarfuls. :) Just a little more refined.

I typically use the word 'refined' when describing the difference between the fEARful and FEARLESS cabs, but often fear it's misleading. Personally, I slightly prefer the FEARLESS 215 over the 1515/66/1 because it's a little tighter and smoother sounding, but it's not like you can't get a '66' to sound just like a F215, just depends on how good you are with eq.

The FEARLESS 112 and F115 are kinda cool because of the wedge position you can do on a tight stage. If I don't need the wedge position, I use it in the 'normal' config because of the floor coupling...I like a little stage rumble, personally :)

A dual 12 (I have a 1212/6/1) keeps up with a loud metal band just fine.

Last gig, my guitarist ended up in front of my rig with me on the other side. I came over and turned it up just a tad (no PA support) and his response... laughter, followed with "Jesus, dude! My shirt keeps coming off my back already!"

That said, I'm probably gonna end up building a 12/6 cube to have something smaller to pack around. And maybe to stack on top, if I get the notion to simply knock him clean over. :D

Do I actually need it? Nope.

I'm curious on that one too... an F112 would be pretty sweet, even if a cube would fit better on my cab. Although I just dumped a load of cash to replace a busted major appliance... that coulda been my F112. :crying:

I'd check with Greenboy on that one. The lowend rolloffs and box tunings would differ noticably I would assume, but also, the F112, or the wedge version anyway, uses that 5" Faital that looks like a really nice little driver, was looking at that one as a possible mid for my rig, but it's enough different, I don't know if it'd play nice with your current mid or not.

I sorta did already, in the F112 thread over there, and it got missed. No biggie, hasn't been important enough yet to bug him directly about it. I'm sure he'd have a good answer for me if I haven't found out yet when/if the time comes to actually choose.

I know greenboy has said these cabs will work well with a fEARful sub, but that's all I know for sure :)

Perhaps a fEARful Sub, but GB designed even the 12/6-15/6 mid drivers to align properly when stacked (with a reverse baffle).

So I would assume one cab utilizing just full range drivers would not optimally pair up with a 2 or 3 way cab. Midrange frequencies would be coming from different sources and alignments.

As always, one may like that. :D

Well, sure :)

True, but I'm talking about the F112 and a 1212/6/1. Both 3-way cabs. It looks like at least the mids might lineup ok (hard to say without measurements). But the mids are different, as are the crossovers. But one of the crossover options is supposedly closer to a fEARful voicing than the other.

Hard to say without actually trying it, or getting greenboy's take on it.
