Finding a bass cab for a bass amp

First post on here so sorry if im doing anything wrong haha! But I'm really close to buying the Behringer Ultrabass BX2000H 2000-watt Bass Head but im having trouble finding a good cab (technical specs and all that) that would work well with it. My little band plays Rock to pretty heavy metal. So what im asking is 1. Would this amp even be good in a Rock/Metal band situation? (I have fuzz pedal when needed) and 2. If its a good match with the genre(s), what cab would be a good match? Thank you if you can make out anything with what I just typed there. Sorry!

Cabinet selection is typically dependent on three variables: size of venue, loudness of the band, and whether you can send your signal to the PA. If you’re playing small bars without PA support a 210 will be more than enough. Bigger venues will require more speaker cones for more air movement and volume. Going through the PA means you only need enough speakers to act as a stage monitor.
And it goes without saying that it needs to fit in your car.

I recommend getting one 8 ohms cabinet first so that you have the option of adding another 8 ohms cabinet down the road. The “2000 watts” rating is typical Behringer marketing BS. That said, your single cabinet should be rated for no less 400 watts RMS.

I agree with most of this. I’m not too familiar with what Behringer amps actually produce for power at 4 ohms, but you still need to be careful and listen to your speakers for signs of strain if you plan to thrash them hard. At moderate volume it’s not usually an issue. I’d go along with 400 watts minimum. Are you skilled at calculating “ohms” as part of this look you’re taking?

Afaik, it's a 500w amp. It'll probably be 500w into 4 ohms and 300w or so, into 8 ohms or something like that, RMS, Root means square.

Behringer list TOTAL power which, I think, is the absolute maximum the amp can produce. Every other company lists RMS power.

You should have much easier time looking for suitable cab with those spex.
If I were you, I'd look into getting 2nd hand. Lotsa good amps, and cabs, in the classified ads here

Does Behringer “list” the power as 2000 watts or is it just in the amp’s name?
 
To answer my own question, they do call it a 2000 watt amp. That’s silly. Even the back of the amp itself lists a 4 ohm minimum load but no claim anywhere as to power produced into a 4-ohm load. Anyway, OP, let us know what you decide for a box, and if the amp floats your boat.

Ah I see. I dont believe i'll be playing much with a PA so that helps narrow the search down. Thank you for your help!

Cant agree more that 2nd hand stuff could be just as good as brand new. Ill make sure to check the local listings once every day or so. Thanks for the information and your help!

Oh - not always anymore. Good modern speakers in good cabinet designs you may not hear any straining before they blow. Many times People have no idea why they blew the speakers cabinets. It's just a big surprise.
Fair enough. But under what conditions would you expect that amp to deliver 2,000 watts to a cab? Not many drivers would last long under that pressure - if it were true.
