What I did before was on the E and A my thumb would be on the pickup, so yeah two strings above. I'm going to try this with the floating thumb because it's less movement then too, so thanks!
Another thing sorry, and yes I did a search first. Are there scales I can learn while I'm doing this to practice my left hand on the fretboard? This is before I have learned the fretboard notes so my search didn't help me, I need fret numbers for now... tabs maybe.
