Fingerstyle Power chords

For a song I need to quickly switch from a single note riff on the E string to power chords on the A-D strings and right now I pinch the a and d strings while muting the E with my pinky.

Is this the proper technique or is there something better?

I would strike the D and follow through to the A. If it timed better, or if I wanted a more defined sound, I would splay my fingers out and hit the A, following through to the D, with my fingernails. I would probably mute the E with my fretting hand. Look up Steve Harris, as of about a decade ago he started splaying his fingers out for chords when playing live. Geddy Lee also strikes with his finger nail to get more definition.

What you do is fine OP, if it works, that it is proper. I think all the different takes on it about me proves there is no "right" answer.

Well to play a stop ( because two notes isn't a chord ... and even a power chord isn't a chord as it lacks a 3rd or 7th but this is another subject ) like that I would only use my index and pinky and use my middle finger to mute the E string... as for plucking this I use my nail ...I did a "ok" cover of it on my YouTube channel
