Fireworks use

I like dressing up like Un Pistolero, hanging out in front of the Circle K and taking from ordinary citizens their recently purchased bags of chips, bottles of soda, and slices of pizza then throwing those items up in the air and shooting them as many times as I can as they fall.

It’s the best thing to do at three am on a Tuesday around here when you’re in your seventies and your wife’s on Coumadin and doesn’t want to have firecrackers going off in the backyard anymore.

FWIW, I half-arse the costume and use a pair of Walther PPK’s so nobody takes me too seriously.

IMO, anything that sounds like gunfire, cannon fire, or bombs detonating in a neighborhood is not okay, especially if those things can potentially start a fire. And I'm not talking about little firecracker "pops." I'm talking about "BOOM!!!" It's hard to get used to something that sounds like it could come through your wall! But here in drought-stricken California, no one seems to care.:(

Any fireworks that go up in the air or move along the ground are supposed to be illegal in CA. Every year, the TV news reports talk about the penalties for using and possessing illegal fireworks, but I doubt that even one citation has been issued, unless someone's house got burned down.:rollno:

For some reason my local area has a fair amount of fireworks enthusiasts. I personally hate them (other than July 4th) and don't appreciate those yahoos who start setting them off at 7pm and repeat every hour on the hour until past midnight.

On our neighborhood app there are always people asking to consider their pets and how they're spooked by these loud noises. But of course the ones causing these noises don't have any consideration for anybody else.

Exactly.

At least we humans know what's happening, even though it can still be startling for us. Dogs and other pets don't know what the heck is going on. It might feel like the end of the world to them.

I'm sure it's no picnic for ex-soldiers with PTSD, either.

I like fireworks. Go for it. Lots go off around where I live. The LA area is an amazing cacophony of noise around 4th.

Haven't done it in years, personally. I grew up with a father and uncles who loved and still love fireworks. I grew up participating in a few bottle rocket wars.
