That head sounded surprisingly good BTW. I was not left wanting anything from it. I did a few tweaks on my bass and left it alone after the first few songs.

I really don't give a flip what someone else brings to rehearsal, but if I gotta have a 8x10 just to get myself heard, I'm not interested in rehearsing with that band ... I can only imagine what their stage volume is. To each his own.

If he's not overpowering, then cool. My only reservation beyond that would be load in / out to gigs. But I'm spoiled on that front as the guitarists in my main band both quit using amps altogether and just go through the PA most of the time. Then again the subs we use are pretty heavy so... meh. Six of one half dozen of the other I suppose.

Last night I went to jam/audition with a 70's, 80's, 90's hard rock cover band. I learn about 12 of their 80 songs for the first get together. One of the guitarists puts his rig together for our PRACTICE, and here it is.

Wow, I'm blown away, never seen anything that tall before. He says he's been doing it for 20 years the same way. As it turned out, he didn't overpower himself or anyone else, and he likes to stand close to his cab. The other guitarist had only half of his stack there, so looks like I'm going to be gigging with these guys against their full stacks with 2 1x12's? That's all I got right now, I hope its enough.

Anyway, everyone was cool and I'm excited about joining the band. I've never seen anything that big in my life. Look, that's an 8x10 bass cab next to it.

I play with a guitarist that uses a full Marshall stack, and a pedal board with about 20 pedals on it. He controls his volume, and uses maybe two of his pedals. Some people like to show off their stuff, and I'm cool with it as long as they exercise some professionalism.

I'm surprised to see so many people say run. It's not often to find a band that has several paying gigs a week, and plays the music you like, and that likes you back. I always wear earplugs, i'm sure Ill be OK. Plus, I gelled with everyone there and had fun. If the volume becomes a problem, I'll let them know. Until then, I'm not saying a word.

I don't agree that most do that, unless we're talking teenagers.

I have seen many bass players who put their Bass control well past 3 o'clock. That much bass gives me the runs.
