A bit excessive, no?Tempo a touch too fast is sorted with a quick word. Doesn't happen again.

That’s drama? Try playing in a band where the drummer/BL yells at you onstage every time you make a mistake or play something he doesn’t like, loses his mind if you dare suggest he not play a song so fast, and generally has the band walking on eggshells.
1. They're cover songs, right? So they are not "his songs".
2. He has established that he has a history of such behavior. So he is not likely to get better without professional therapy and possibly medication.
3. Cut the rope now. You will be much happier for it.
Drama?
Hire a female lead singer and watch the sparks fly...
She won't have to do anything. We men are foolish and become 13 year old boys pretty much overnight.
This one is interesting. I cannot understand the 'OMG QUIT' group here - seeming to walk for any infraction that is perceived. Like they have never made an error in judgement or said something they later regretted. For pete's sake, give the BL a second chance.
On the other hand - a guy that thinks it's a good idea to completely alter one of the most iconic bass lines of all time that unarguably IS the song... well, that suggests a fundamental disconnect from the ability to make good music.
I dunno... on the fence. I'd say give a second chance, but certainly be ready to look for a better group in short order.....

At 54 years old, I was involved in my first band drama at a rehearsal a couple of nights ago.
I don't do conflict well.
syncopating with the drummer,

Can’t fire the BL.
Some of the worst people you will ever meet are in bands. Simple fact.
WHOA! You (he) CANNOT frack with that bassline!!!![]()
Of all the songs that should not have their iconic bass lines changed, that one is pretty close to the top of the list!!....
I'm not a strict N4N player, but that bass line IS the song. You can't change it.
Just for the record I don't think there is any bass line that is SO sacrosanct that it can't be modified, or even completely changed, if a new arrangement of a song is to be done.Papa Was a Rolling Stone, absolutely not!
That’s Blasphemy!!
That sounds like a drummer my old roomie and I jammed with months ago. Except without the minimal success. Mr Big Britches had another band and had been playing in this podunk town we live in now (our choice, it's beautiful) for his whole life.I've been there, and at not far from the same age. Some guys get above their station, and decide they'll make all the decisions - right or wrong. If it's baggage, it's his baggage, and he needs to store in his garage on some nice shelving, and not bring it to practices. It's not your baggage.
My guy had had some minimal success in the past, but forgot he was standing in the same little room as the rest of us now... Thought his 'experience' was beyond that of the other musicians (all of whom were better musicians than he, and collectively probably had more gigs under their belts). I later found out that such outbursts were exactly why all his other bands, and friendships ended.
I completely understand your re-thinking. I won't be spoken to in that tone of voice.
I'm happy with my home studio now.
