First bass.... Wish me luck

So it’s payday, that and a sleepless night made for a random google search for a cheap classic vibe jazz bass, at about 4 in the morning I stumbled on this blue Korean Squier standard jazz from 1996 going for a touch over £100. At that price I figured I’ve either got a bargain or a project. Cosmetically.... it’s a cheap instrument from 2 decades ago so it’s got a couple of marks but it looks solid, Looks to have that 50th anniversary decal on the back of the headstock. Anyway I paid a bit extra for Saturday delivery so it could well be here tomorrow, then again I’m dealing with DPD so it might be another week, but the deed is done, the bass is mine.
Anybody got any experience with these? Looking at other people’s reviews look to be kinda hit or miss so if anyone has direct info on what to possibly expect that’d be great .

Oh, and here’s the bass.....

I’m not sure I like the scratchplate so I might end up fitting a black one, but we’ll see

**UPDATE** just had a call from the company I bought it from, they confirmed the bass WON’T be here by tomorrow, so it’ll be here by Monday/Tuesday

Looking good! Love that color, about the same blue as my P bass.

my life changed for the better when I started learning how to fix up my instruments. You can go down a replacement parts-rabbit hole here on TB: but I’m in the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” camp. I advise you to focus on fret ends, neck finish and basic setup. Get to know the thing before you start swapping hardware and electronics. My 2 c... I did change my pickguard from the white to an aged pearl, so I can get behind that

Squier stuff from that era is typically well made. The price is decent and from the pics there's nothing glaringly out of place. A solid choice for your first bass and also a nice platform for upgrades in the future.

Congrats , nothing to do now but wait for delivery and put in the work to learn what to do with it

Good luck! I've been playing less than 2 months. What you need more than luck though is a commitment to practice often. May you have many years of enjoyment. Oh and nice bass, love the color.
