So, I'm actually getting started on my first build. Between working my ass off in the military, and having my first kid, and not having anyplace to make dust, this has been put on hold. Now, I found someone sorta local willing to help me out, and let me come over and make dust.
I wanted to go with a more complicated build, but have decided to go with a standard 4 string fretted neck through. Looks like I'll be going with Maple/Makore/Maple for the neck. maple being 1 inch each, and makore being 2 inch. Then for the body do African Mahogany back, and probably spalted maple top. I haven't bought the top yet, but have all the other wood already.
It'll be a 32 in scale, with ebony fretboard, no position markers. Soapbar pickups, which I haven't picked out a brand for, and hipshot 1/2in black lollipop tuners, and hipshot black 2 piece bridge.
Now I just need to get all my measurements up and go make some dust. First is planing down and gluing up the neck, I'm doing an angled headstock, but the wood is thick enough to make it one piece.
Any advice jumping out with what I've put up so far? I'll post the body design and the obligatory wood shots a bit later.
Take care guys!
Michael
