They are purpleheart and were done at Victor's request.
and i can see zero practical uses for it.
yeah i'm sorry, this thing is hideous. and i can see zero practical uses for it. no thanks.
I have no idea what you're talking about. 90% of Lamborghinis look like door stops. This, on the other hand, has a Picasso-esque cool to it.Yikes!!! Well...they can't all be winners...Even Lamborghini made an ugly car or two...
Okay then, move along. I don't think this bass is intended for "practical use" by us mere mortals either. You won't see it in the hands of someone like you or me, playing Mustang Sally in a bar for a couple of beers. This kind of wacky concept is for an innovator like Vic, who will almost certainly put it to use in a mind-boggling manner.yeah i'm sorry, this thing is hideous. and i can see zero practical uses for it. no thanks.
The bass is very much a Fodera with cut outs for bowing and a finger radius to match. Looks beautiful to my eyes. Can't wait to hear it.
The board radius is completely crazy (compared to a "normal" electric bass). It is big and just weirdly shaped to accommodate a bow.yeah i'm sorry, this thing is hideous. and i can see zero practical uses for it. no thanks.
(I don't see any other luthiers "thinking outside the box") Go to the Conklin website. Look at the basses/guitars that they have built over the past 30 years. Down near the bottom is a 'out of the box' bass built for Mr Wooten himself. Not radical but still not something you see on the wall at your local shop. And it's maybe 10-15 years old.
LOL, this comment is virtually identical to many of the early impressions of the Fender Precision Bass.

and i'm sure it will be every bit as successful.
look, i get it. it's victor wooten. dude does crazy stuff. that's his thing. i'm just not into it, and that's okay.
