I think the same thing was probably said to Leo Fender back in the day. Steve Jobs heard that a few times as well. Not saying this will have the same mass appeal, but thankfully there are people out there who are willing to take risks and try new things...

Several people before you already made that point. Just as Dan Quayle was no Jack Kennedy, there are no Steve Jobs or Leo Fenders at Fodera

Kudos to Fodera for trying something different for them!

It might also be worth mentioning that this has sort of already been done. The NS Omni bass is a 34" scale bowable electric that has already proven itself viable.

Either way, it will be interesting to see how this experiment progresses for Fodera!

I'm sorry, but that thing is ridiculous. I love Victor, but is he really going to bow an electric bass on a strap? Visions of Nigel Tufnel come to mind... Prediction: if that thing goes into production they sell exactly zero.

Guess you've never seen Tony Levin strap on his NS and run around the stage while sawing away with the bow. As an upright player who bows quite a bit, I think it's pretty cool to have the option on the electric.

Maybe you could try to have an open mind...

If you don't help them out they're gonna end up making it and becoming the laughing stock of all bass players everywhere. Everyone knows an unusual looking instrument has no musical purpose. You'll have to spell it out clearly to them, no one at Fodera is as smart as Leo Fender.

Whether they are as smart as Leo or not, they are not about to lay the next P bass on us guaranteed, and certainly not with this offering.

Throughout its history, Fodera has chosen to associate itself with visionaries like Victor Wooten and Anthony Jackson. This is definitely not only about Fodera, although in the process it has helped to make significant strides in developing the design of the electric bass. You can't innovate without pushing the envelope.

I personally find this instrument fascinating. It may look strange to some, but if you give it a closer look, you'll see that it's a serious, functional and beautifully crafted response to an unusual brief.
