First Gig Coming Up

Hello,

I've been lurking this forum for about 6 months and been playing bass a bit under a year. Thanks to this forum and R/Bass I've gotten a lot of useful information. I'm 25 and started a band with some friends (who are more experienced than I am) a few months ago. We managed to get out first gig playing original music in Austin this Thursday followed by a show in our hometown on Friday. Just wanted to say thanks for the very useful information that gets spread here. It's been a godsend getting caught up to speed on the world of bass and music in general.

Hi @AndrewBeltran,

Break a leg! There's lots of TB pickers in Austin. Let us know where you'll be and maybe you can meet us IRL. All the best to you and the band. Come back and share some pictures. :)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

We'll be opening for a band at the Dirty Dog on 6th St. I'll be sure to update everyone how these two show go on Monday. Thanks everyone for the kind words!

We are playing the Dirty Dog Bar on 6th st. We play metalcore/hardcore I guess. And hometown is Midland/Odessa Tx. Not a very interesting town (unless you like oil) but the DIY music scene has been growing in the last year.

Man, I remember my first gig....I banged on a hollow log with the thighbone of an antelope. They hadn't even invented the whole scale yet; it just went up to fa. You kids these days have it easy with your amps and electricity and stuff. :D

Seriously, have a great time. If you work hard and keep at it, in thirty years YOU can be the grouchy old man. Its worth the wait!

...or football! FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - I loved that movie!

On a serious note, congrats on the gig and knock it out the park!
