First gig in 22 years

Can't wait to hear the final complete version of dot dot dot "The Thrill"

I stand on the hill,
not for a thrill,
but for the breath of a fresh kill.

Never mind the man who contemplates doin' away with license plates.

He stands alone, anyhow,
bakin' the cookies of discontent
by the heat of the laundromat vent.

Leavin' his soul!
dot-dot-dot,
Leavin' his soul!

And partin' the waters
of the medulla oblongata
of - brrrrrr! - mankind!

I did that about a year ago. At 62 now, it was probably more than 22 years. I had jammed and stuff, but not on a stage, in front of strangers...

Anyway, I practiced a lot on my own, the band rehearsed a couple times, everything went smooth, except my wife said, "you just stood there like a mannequin or something!"

Yep, guess I did. I'm a bit looser now, but not much.

@Parzival - what took you away? What brought you back? Glad to hear you're in again. Always fun hearing about bass players doing what they like. Good luck.

Work and family. After college just worked too much and the started family. I have a great, less demanding job now and my youngest are now 8. I just decided I really wanted to start playin more because I really love it. Still hard though as I have 2 kids playing ball this spring and the logistics get fun as I have 4 kids total and my wife is busy as an elementary school principal.

Wow! Incredible.

My fiancée wants kids (errr...) and I know that will take a toll on my ability to play out. I just hope I can at least practice regularly.

I took a break when my kids were little, because family is indeed the priority. But jumped back in (well, jumped is a strong word!). Now I take gigs that fit my lifestyle and I don't accept crap gigs our bandmates. My time is too valuable to not be enjoying myself 100%
