First gig

Hey TB,
I am glad to let ya'll know I'm playing my first gig on Saturday. We are having a house party and invited something like 40-50 people and we're gonna play one short set (25 min) and a longer set later in the evening (60 minutes). We play mostly originals but we'll be covering Everybody Knows by Ryan Adams and Spirit of the Night by the Boss.

I'm pretty nervous but feel that we rehearsed a decent amount so we should be in good shape. I'll let you know how it goes!

You guys were right, I was hardly nervous at all and it was fun as all get out. We ended up playing 2 short sets and one longer set for our friends. Nobody notices mistakes which I couldn't believe and people were saying either how good we were or I played. Partly I wanted to be humble, but mostly, I was like, guys, I'm playing pretty easy stuff here, believe me I ain't THAT good. But, it was cool nonetheless.

The best part was that these two guys I never met knew some Alice and Chains covers among other tunes. They asked me to play with them and by just turning down lower than usual, and watching the guitar changes, I was able to fake it for a while! We really rocked Man in a Box, and I never ever learned that tune! It was cool to see some people from the back porch file in the room and watch us play. So, who said you need to start playing music young, I'm 31 and just played my first gig. Hopefully more to come and I'll hopefully post some recordings soon...
