First/Last song you learned

I don't remember what the first song I ever learned on bass was, but I do recall that the first songs my first-ever band in high school learned were "White Wedding" by Billy Idol and "Rock'n'Me" by the Steve Miller Band, so it would have been one of those.

The last one I learned was probably "Night in My Veins" by the Pretenders. Either that or "Silver Lining" by Rilo Kiley.

first was comftorbly numb..

nowadays i "learn" songs by playing along and catching each chord as it goes by (gennerally.) ive probably learned 100 songs in the last month, and couldent tell you what the last thing i "learned" was..

but i did put an hour or so of practicing into beethovens 6th symphony before an orchestra rehearsal last night.. not sure if that counts or not..

I think some of you guys were either born playing bass or are too proud to admit the silly easy songs you really learned first.:eyebrow:

For me it was a movement of "ode to Joy". Standard music lesson fare. Silly easy to play one movement, hard part is keeping all the movements straight in your head!

That was on cello though, first song on bass was likely either "Pipeline" or some other surfy 12 bar blues type thing. Some of the first punk bands I was in were influenced by the JFA/Agent Orange surf punk thing.

Most recently learned "Emerald" by Thin Lizzy
hardest parts are the odd time/tempo of the beginning and the bridges are kinda funny.
Also recently learned the bass and guitar on Shadowplay by Joy Division. STUPID easy parts to play, but oddly they repeat in sets of 5? Makin it hard to stay on target when you are used to 4's AND singing it.

Too true, I don't think I've come across a single "Smells like Teen Spirit" :D admittedly the only reason that wasn't my first song was because I had the Nevermind album on shuffle and was game for any song that popped up.

Edit: I take it back, go Darylw425!
