She was s classical pianist and I was learning classical guitar. The album was

William Gomez a guitar recital

An amazing record, I listened to it countless times

She then got with the times and my next Xmas present was Beatles for sale. I listened to it heaps

The next Xmas was 'cocker happy' an album released by emi records only in Australia .. I listened to that heaps

And that year I bought my first ever album

Led Zeppelin Iv ... Still a great album by today's standards

The haze of time makes the answer to this question a bit difficult. Going to say the first LP I bought with my own money was Rubber Soul. Which strikes me as a bit odd as at the time I was into the Stones.

it was supposed to be Kiss Hotter Than Hell when I was about 8 years old. But, when my mom saw the album cover, she said no way. So she made me buy some Journey album.

First I ever bought was the Moody Blues album On the Threshold of a Dream. Prog addiction usually starts early in one's life.

Bought it in the record section of a local department store. It cost me a whopping $2.75 back in 1969. Adjusted for inflation, that $2.75 would be about $18 in today's money.
