first pedal (did search)

hey, first post in the FX forum, wont be my last. im just wondering what you guys would consider to be a good very first pedal. i mostly play gospel for church, and jazz/funk stuff, also some rock. thanks for any advice.

I wasn't joking. I love my ring modulator. No pedal I've ever used does so many different things like a good ring modulator. If I had to sell all my pedals to pay my rent (knock on wood), it would be the last to go.

For church/gospel...a Chorus pedal would make your bass sound very nice. A chorus essentially doubles and detunes your bass signal so it sounds like your bass is a couple of voices in a choir...if you catch my meaning.

For jazz/funk...an envelope filter or autowah is fun. Or a regular wah pedal. Envelope filters and autowah make quacky tones based on your attack. A wah makes your bass sound like 'wah-wah'. Very funky.
