first post, please help recommend a cab

Hey Guys,

really love this site, i have learned so much here in the last couple of weeks. congratulations everyone.

i haven't been playing bass in a few years and i'm anxious to get the fingers moving again. i want to buy a bass amp. following the advice of the board it appears buying a seperate amp and cab is a good way to go. i have a budget of @ €1000 (euro).
i have been reading so many good reviews of the Mark Bass Little MArk II i would really like to get one.
i would like to pair this with a 2x10 cab but my predicament is that the Little Mark will cost €666 for me to buy from thomann in germany leaving me about €400 for a cab.

My options from thomann around this figure are;
ASHDOWN MAG210T
GALLIEN KRUEGER 210GLX
SWR WORKINGPRO 2X10
HARTKE VX210
WARWICK WCA 211 PRO

My apologies if this seems like a silly question but would any of these cabinets be suitable? i have read such good things about ashdown, should i try strech for ASHDOWN ABM 210T cab? (listed at 543 euro).
Or would i be better off going for the MARKBASS CMD 102P combo (is this a little mark head in a combo).

I vote for the GALLIEN KRUEGER 210GLX.

I think the GK or Ashdown cab would serve you well. I personally don't like combo amps. Heavier to haul and you locked in. At least with the head and cab seperate, you've got more flexibility to change one, etc. I haven't played through that Warwick cab, but I bet it would do a good job too based on the newer Warwick stuff I played through.

thanks for the responses. So you are saying that you think any of these cabs will work with the little mark. my concern was that the little mark amp is rated 300W at 8ohms and those speaker cabs are rated 200W at 8ohms. i don't fully understand the ohm rating thing but am i to understand that the little mark won't be too powerful for either of those cabs. and can you tell me what is the advantage of a 4 0hm cab and running the amp at 4 ohms.

Running at 4Ohms you will get the full power the LMII can provide! running at 8ohms is normally little over half the total output power. IMO there are more reason to get 8ohm cabs than 4 ohm cabs, so i'd get a 8ohm cab now and a additional cab when you have they money.

+1 on the LMII

Also look on the used market for a good cab. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pick up a decent 4X10 for that money.

You had mentioned a Hartke vx210 as one of your choices. You might want to consider the 2.5XL Hartke. It is a far superior cab and should still be in your price range.
