Hey all. I have not played in almost 20 years and looking to get back into for leisure. I am looking for versatility and good sound. I may will end up playing with others in a small setting, however this is mostly for me at home.

I like to play and use to play everything between blues and metal, with maybe a little jazz here and there. Clean to dirty sound, I am truly a hobbiest and have love for all kinds of music.

I have narrowed my options to these 5 amps but feel free to throw out another in the 300-400 range if you want.

I am also eyeing a darkglass microtubes X to go with this purchase although I may not get it right away.

I am picking up an Ibanez SR305 too.

Opposed to used? Weight limit?

I have been gigging a Rumble 100 for a while, just recently “retired” it to a rehearsal amp, but i have been really pleased with it. It’s loud as hell, feather weight and can be cleaned up by setting EQ to 10/2/2/10. (a lot of folks say these are muddy- while not the cleanest amps there are some work-arounds and I’ve been very happy with mine.)

Ampeg BA is also great- maybe a little cleaner than rumble, but still has some old school warmth and grit.

GK MB are awesome combos; current lineup might be over budget, but you could find a 1st generation in your price range. (Silver grill like this)

And if you don’t mind heavy, and old Peavey combo would be cheap, loud and reliable.

good luck!
